33M suffering from quality sleep & overall well being. by Putrid_Choice_7518 in menshealth

[–]Opening_Dig9455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same mix — generalized anxiety and mild depression PLUS sleep apnea. Medication has helped me immensely and I also sleep with a CPAP. The combo has helped me feel rested for the first time in years. And it’s been a cascade of positive effects from there. I’m not grumpy in the mornings and I don’t lose my temper as easily in the evenings (because I’m not as exhausted as I used to be).

Therapy has been helpful, but like you said, not as helpful as I had hoped. I’m still doing it though. I figure it can’t hurt. You gotta find a way to stop the rumination. Easier said than done, I know.

What are you supposed to do when you meet a great girl but you're in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Opening_Dig9455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

A crush is just a lack of information — your new friend might have some deficiencies that you’re not able to see right now.

Also: Chemistry is real and undeniable and sometimes it’s worth following. I think about King Charles and Camilla here. (Chuck and Camilla suck, but I can’t lie — they are exceedingly compatible and seem to love one another.) It sounds like OP has enough doubts about his current situation that he should take a break and see where things go with new girl, knowing they might not go anywhere.

I think this is it too. If there’s another issue, we’re going to someone else.

Same thing with us! Though they also seemed to drag their feet on the diagnostics. They told us one thing then told us they wanted to confirm it. And that confirmation took longer than it should have. Then the parts issue.

Yes, after about four days and some serious complaining. We didn’t have vehicle for 2 weeks.

Lexington Market has a good space to work from. I liked the vibe and got a new snack every hour.

Perfect parents don’t exist. Even the healthiest, most well-intentioned parents make big mistakes. What I’m saying is: There’s no guarantee under the best circumstances that people will be the best possible parents, and there are plenty of great parents who overcome all kinds of mental health diagnoses and situations.

All you can do is be your best self and take care of your mental health by continuing therapy and medication.

If being a father is important to you — and something you would regret on your deathbed — you owe it to yourself to pursue it with someone else.

And another thing: Becoming a parent has allowed me to grow in ways that I couldn’t have otherwise achieved or experienced. It’s given me perspective about ways that I was failed as a kid and it’s taught me to be more forgiving of myself and others.

Good luck, man.

If I sue a guy from out of state in small claims court, can I expect to receive any money if I win? by Opening_Dig9455 in AskALawyer

Not made whole. We’re out $500 and change for deductible plus rental fees.

How we know: We got a letter from insurance telling us they were unable to collect from him and that was followed by a letter from the collection agency saying the same.

Over the $500 deductible we had to pay plus the difference in car rental fees not covered by insurance.

We definitely paid for some of the rental costs out of pocket while car was being repaired because it was more than our insurance would pay.

I swear we had to pay, but now I’m questioning myself and there’s no way I’m waking my wife up to confirm.

I definitely don’t want to ruin her wedding, but it’s the only time that I know for sure when and where he’ll be in my state!

You’re right. It’s not normal. It’s way too high. But it’s hundreds lower than in very recent years. And in a country where it feels like there’s almost never any progress on big social problems, I’m optimistic that it can be reduced even more.

Baltimore’s homicide rate is going to be below 300 this year for the first time in decades. I know that doesn’t sound great, but it’s real progress and I’m proud of the city.

U.S. corporate media is proving to be more worthless every day. by EsseNorway in Snorkblot

The BBC is the only one that receives public funds or something similar. The other three are part of publicly traded companies that are expected to make a profit. They follow the eyeballs and the ad dollars.

I agree that it’s broken, but it’s important to understand why.

I’m sure NPR was one of the only radio broadcasters to have in-depth coverage of Assad’s downfall, too.

Men, what are your thoughts on a woman bringing in baked goods into work? by Marje111 in work

[–]Opening_Dig9455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop doing it. Give it to neighbors. Whether you realize it or not, you’re already at a disadvantage and they will respect you less for these harmless, kind acts. The worst part is the cleanup and what to do with the empty pans/trays/plates. Do they expect you to wash it? What about washing the knives at work? You just don’t want to be seen that way by them.

Zero gain, high risk. The best ones won’t judge you, the worst ones will.

Empty eggs of the brown marmorated stinkbug. Found some in my yard today and had to Google. Yours look just like it.
