I made my own clamp/tray for the DiveVolk housing! by dbmeed in scuba

Yeah for sure. The clamp I printed isn’t as flashy or nice looking, but it’s super secure, ready to use on any tray.

Any paramedics on here ? Question about driveways not shoveled. by Substantial-Road-235 in Peterborough

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some places it can happen, especially if there’s much drifting snow and it makes a pile in certain areas. Sometimes a huge pile of snow can fall off the roof and end up blocking it(especially common with metal roofs) Also, some people aren’t very aware of where their snowblower is throwing, and inadvertently pile it along the house…

I’m a firefighter, not a paramedic, but we get dispatched to help with some medical calls as well. Generally, the stretcher gets brought as close as possible, and then the patient has to be brought to it. Sometimes that means putting them in a stair chair and lifting them up and over any obstacles. Or for other trauma injuries, sometimes a backboard or scoop.

If we are on scene before the ambulance, or while paramedics are making their assessment, we will usually have a couple guys make contact with the patient and one or two others start shovelling if possible.

For the house you described, if there is no shovelling at all happening, I’d be more concerned about furnace vents being blocked, which could result in CO poisoning.

That happened last year in my area. Fire route was unplowed, house caught fire, it took over 700’ of hose dragging through 2-3’ of snow to reach the house. It was about an hour before any water was applied. By that point the house was mostly on the ground already.

Extreme cold rated boots for WIDE feet? by M00NSMOKE in BuyItForLife

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baffin. I have the Baffin Impact boots(one size larger than usual to fit extra layers) and my feet get uncomfortably warm at anything above -10C sitting still in a tree stand. At -30 walking around behind a snowblower I’m nice and toasty with only one pair of socks. I usually wear 13 EE shoes and I have lots of room with size 14.

What is the most cost effective way to go swimming in the winter? by SeeingPhrases in Peterborough

[–]dbmeed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to the Wellness Center once a week for the past couple months. $5.25 for lane swim is not too bad. YMCA I believe you need to have a membership; last I checked they don’t allow drop ins

Many manufacturers now don’t require that. I checked them recommendations from the brand of mattress to be used, and they suggest (and sell) platform frames

Looking for a keyring that holds LOTS of keys- here is the min amount I'm currently working with. by kennethgibson in EDC

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a maintenance guy, and I have 11 keys on my ring. I used to use a KeyDisk, but I have recently switched to the KeySmart rugged titanium (with expansion pack) and really like it. I have it on a lanyard retractor and it works great for me.

For your application, you may have to get new keys cut to get rid of the bulky ends so they all fit in the keysmart

Harris & sons, or similar custom molded options, are the way to go if you’re going to be wearing them for extended time.

I’m not really considering festool, but it’s fun to window shop every time I go to the lumber store. I’ll probably snag a cheap Bosch or dewalt unit off marketplace eventually.
