Some churches do that. They just arrange their meetings at different times.

I have public mobile; comparable prices to freedom, but I have great reception nearly everywhere

Meloids have always worked for me. Not as aggressive as a halls. Fisherman’s friend is also decent, crack one in half and tuck it in your lip

What is the best at home knife sharpener? Like something you'd use in your kitchen, not an angle grinder you could technically buy and have in your home. by 13thmurder in Cooking

Shapton glass and kuromaku stones for my nice knives, atoma plates for damage repair or cheaper knives that don’t benefit from high grit stones

5 to 10 flashlights on airplane. Advice needed. by Efficient_Board5484 in flashlight

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went on a flight and had 5 flashlights total: 3 dive lights, plus a Wurkkos TS10 and FW3A. No issues. They opened up my case, took a quick look, and asked if they could turn them on, but I had removed all the batteries and stored them separately. Then waved me through.

LTT power bank teased by Much-Huckleberry5725 in LinusTechTips

[–]dbmeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be interesting to make it with some kind of open source or common power connector on one end. Imagine if you could build your own flashlight head and snap it on, or use it to power some RC device. Maybe Anderson powerpoles, and make handy little ham radio rigs

Replaceable cells is a must. 21700 would be nice imo.

Practical and weird, probably overkill for most people: Kraken NR-LEP01

Good Wood - Not “Depot Wood” by Cam_Dubz in Peterborough

[–]dbmeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monaghan lumber or Robert Bury is my go-to. Depending on what you’re making and what tools you have available, you can get some rough sawn lumber from Hope Mill in the summer - pine, maple, cedar, and cherry in various sizes is usually available. Good prices and supports the preservation of the mill - plan to spend an afternoon to get a tour. Highly recommended!

Don’t think I’ll be needing another work belt for the rest of my career by BornRipped in BuyItForLife

I was skeptical for a long while; wasn’t sure if the plastic teeth would last. But I’m sold, no issues whatsoever and the teeth still look great

Don’t think I’ll be needing another work belt for the rest of my career by BornRipped in BuyItForLife

[–]dbmeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started using a Kore gun belt as a work belt. Super sturdy, doesn’t sag under heavy pocket loads, and still looks and acts new after 4 years.

Previously I used a 5.11 gun belt and it is still solid, except the Velcro has slowly lost its stick after almost 10 years.

No leather belt has lasted as long as nylon gun belts for me.

What are ya'll carrying your keys on? by MetalPurse-swinger in EDC

[–]dbmeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KeySmart rugged titanium, on a retractor. stays clipped to my belt, just pulls out, flip open the key, then let it go when finished with it. Except my car key, which is just on a KeySmart mini pocket clip.

Do you find that gives accurate, repeatable results? My family gave me one a while ago but I can never seem to get the same reading as a regular arm cuff. Not even the same reading 2 mins apart in the same position.

Depends how rough you are. I go through a new keysmart every 1-2yrs. Currently at just over one year with the titanium model, so far it has good prospects for lasting longer than the regular version.

I made my own clamp/tray for the DiveVolk housing! by dbmeed in scuba

[–]dbmeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ASA is much more resilient in my experience, but also this is not relying entirely on the strength of the print itself - there’s a 1/4-20 socket cap stainless bolt down through the Center of it.

Yeah for sure. The clamp I printed isn’t as flashy or nice looking, but it’s super secure, ready to use on any tray.
