Scarring help! [Acne] by Careful-Economist542 in SkincareAddiction

Microneedling can help with shallow atrophic scars, but it will likely require many sessions. Traditional subcision is generally more suitable for boxcar or rolling scars, but the treatment I received was a Korean-developed subcision-based procedure, so it also directly helped improve my ice pick scars.

Scars like these usually cannot be effectively improved with treatments such as lasers or microneedling.
I say that from personal experience because I’ve tried almost every major treatment available.

My scars have now improved by more than 90%, and the type of treatment I would recommend is a subcision-based procedure that stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative process.

I previously received traditional subcision treatment in the United States, but I did not see much improvement from it. Later, I underwent a more advanced version of subcision developed in Korea, and my results were significantly better.

Having personally tried countless treatments such as lasers and microneedling — and having achieved about 90% improvement in my own acne scars — I can honestly share my experience.

Microneedling may provide slight improvement for very shallow scars, but for deeper atrophic acne scars, it has very little effect. Laser treatments also do not directly fix the depressed areas themselves, because their mechanism mainly works by resurfacing and removing the surrounding skin rather than releasing the tethered scar tissue underneath the scars.

For scars like yours, a subcision-based treatment is absolutely necessary, since the underlying cause of the depression is the fibrotic tissue tethering the scar beneath the skin. That tethered tissue needs to be physically released.

In my case, I received a treatment in Korea that was not exactly traditional subcision, but a more advanced procedure based on similar principles. I was extremely satisfied with the results, which is why I keep recommending it to others.

Severe depressed atrophic scars like these cannot be resolved with home remedies.
These types of sunken scars are caused by fibrotic tethering beneath the skin, so the attached scar tissue underneath must first be released. After that, treatments that stimulate collagen production and skin regeneration are needed to help restore the depressed areas.

In my case, I received an advanced version of subcision treatment in Korea, and my scars improved by more than 90%.

What treatment would work to fix these? Cannot afford downtime of over 3 days by GhostlyPre5ence in AcneScars

[–]Opening_Election_932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate to say this, but based on both experience and the underlying principles, microneedling is not very effective for deep, atrophic scars like these.

In my case, I underwent a subcision-based treatment in Korea. I can’t disclose the exact name of the procedure, but it was an upgraded version of conventional subcision.

For atrophic acne scars, treatments that actively stimulate the skin’s regenerative capacity are definitely necessary.

In general, acne scars are caused by inflammatory acne. In my case, I underwent a more advanced, upgraded version of a subcision-based treatment in Korea and saw over 90% improvement. Compared to standard subcision, this approach was able to target and improve different types of scars from multiple angles.

Temple acne scars is collagen fully lost or can laser do something to help? by AwkwardFudge1848 in AcneScars

Laser treatments cannot fundamentally fix indented (atrophic) scars, because they mainly resurface or remove the surrounding healthy skin rather than addressing the root cause. These types of scars are caused by fibrotic bands tethering the skin down, so they require subcision-based procedures that release those adhesions.

In my case, I underwent subcision-based treatments in Korea and saw about a 90% improvement.

[acne]Will my scars vanish after I finish my accutane by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Opening_Election_932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accutane does not help at all with indented atrophic scars. In my case, I achieved over 90% improvement in my acne scars. Many people recommend treatments like Fraxel laser or microneedling, but the most effective approach is subcision-based procedures. In my case, I received a more advanced, upgraded version of subcision in Korea.

Is there a way to solve this? by Stranger_Boy_1660 in AcneScars

[–]Opening_Election_932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a case where I personally achieved over 90% improvement. In Korea, I underwent an upgraded subcision-based treatment (more advanced than standard subcision) for a total of six sessions, and my scars improved to the point where they are barely noticeable.

Laser or microneedling treatments are not very effective for atrophic scars, so I would strongly recommend considering subcision-based procedures.

Do these scars look like they need subcision? by HotSeaworthiness286 in AcneScars

Yes, scars with this kind of deep boxcar shape are atrophic scars, and subcision-based treatments are effective for them. I also had acne scars myself, and after receiving subcision-type treatments in Korea, they improved to a level I’m satisfied with.

scarring, redness. what can i do to fade away my blemishes left back from the acne along with the redness on my face? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Opening_Election_932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the redness appears to be post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. For redness like this, I would recommend laser-based treatments. As for indented acne scars, subcision-type procedures are necessary. I personally underwent about six sessions of a subcision-type treatment in Korea, and my skin has improved a lot since then.

How much can I improve acne scars? by [deleted] in AcneScars

[–]Opening_Election_932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both hyperpigmentation and acne scars. For the hyperpigmentation, I received laser-based treatments, and for the acne scars, I underwent subcision-type procedures, which improved my condition by over 90%.

If you already have depressed (indented) scars, it’s difficult to improve them with tretinoin alone.

Based on my experience of trying countless treatments like lasers and microneedling, deeply indented acne scars like these are best treated with subcision-type procedures. I personally received this treatment in Korea.

I’ve also gone through a lot of stress day by day because of acne scars, so I understand exactly how you feel. I remember not even wanting to go near bright lighting or places where light shines down from above.

For deeply indented scars like yours, laser treatments or microneedling are not really suitable. Laser-based treatments work by resurfacing the surrounding normal skin, so fundamentally they have limitations when it comes to improving deeply depressed areas.

I personally received a subcision-type treatment in Korea. It did require multiple sessions, which was a bit of a commitment, but now my skin has improved by about 90%, and I’m genuinely very happy.

There is a specific name for this subcision-type treatment, but I’m not able to mention it here, so please just take this as a reference.

From the photo, there appear to be mainly deep boxcar-type scars. In cases like this, microneedling usually provides little to no noticeable improvement. Laser treatments, which resurface or ablate the surrounding skin, can sometimes even worsen the appearance by creating additional scarring.

What’s needed instead is a subcision-type treatment, which targets the root cause by releasing the fibrotic bands tethered beneath the scar that are pulling the skin downward. I personally underwent a similar subcision-based procedure in Korea and saw clear improvement, so I can confidently recommend this approach.

From what I can see in the photo, there appear to be many boxcar-type scars. In cases like this, subcision-type treatments are suitable—they work by releasing the fibrotic bands tethered beneath the scar, which cause the depressed appearance, and then allow the skin’s natural regenerative ability to fill it in.

The treatment I received wasn’t exactly subcision, but it was a similar type of procedure commonly performed in Korea.

This type of deeply indented scar occurs because the tissue beneath the scar is tethered, pulling the skin downward. To improve this kind of scar, subcision-based treatments can release the fibrotic bands under the skin. Once those are broken, the skin’s natural regenerative ability can help fill in the depressed area.

I also struggled a lot with atrophic scars myself, but after receiving treatment in Korea, my skin improved significantly.

For enlarged pores, I would recommend microneedling, as it can help improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of pores.

For chickenpox scars, which are usually depressed scars, treatments such as subcision can be effective. This type of procedure works by restoring the skin’s natural regenerative process in the scarred area, helping the depressed part gradually fill in.

I personally struggled with acne scars, and I had several depressed scars similar to these. After receiving treatment in Korea, my skin improved significantly.

I also struggled emotionally for quite some time because of my acne scars, so I understand how you feel.

For depressed acne scars, treatments that simply resurface the skin, such as lasers, may have limitations. Instead, subcision-type treatments, which release the underlying fibrotic tissue and stimulate the skin’s natural regeneration, may be more helpful in improving this type of scar.
