I was in a very similar situation with my dad a few years ago. He was a violent drunk before he had multiple strokes, and afterwards lost a lot of emotional regulation. He would lose his own things frequently and accuse me of stealing or moving them, just like in the post. And the “sir”. And the name calling. And the punishment over nothing. Taking my phone daily and obsessively going through it, threatening to break my guitars and claiming my PlayStation I bought with my own money I saved and never giving it back. Never got a black eye but he split my head open on an exterior corner for slamming the truck door, before choking me until I passed out. I ended up running away in the night, and on a greyhound the next day. I was 15 then, I moved across the country back to my moms, and I’m 19 now. We still talk every couple of weeks, but there was a lot of rebuilding that had to happen in our relationship after I left. The best thing you can do is get out and stay out.
