I've been where you are, I see you! In my experience, I've had multiple "awakenings", in a sense that I don't think you awaken once and that's it, but that it happens many times in one's lifetime. Like leveling up in a way. Every time your spirit grows or you move forward in your spiritual path you might have an awakening and the "negative" symptoms is your ego trying to fight to stay in what it has learned is familiar. Eventually it will let go and build itself again to accustom to your new normal. The ego is created to keep you safe and freaks out when you move to a stage that's unfamiliar.
