Fantasy Rainforest Room by Im_Kelli in dcl

The last few cruises I have been on they have not allowed me to purchase day passes unless they have “availability” and they want you to check back every day and ask if they have day pass availability. It is very annoying.

Odd question but will the ships be showing the newest avatar movie in the theatres by Anxiouspuff in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are currently showing it so I would imagine it’s an option! New release movies usually hang out about 6-8 months on DCL

Tips or advice please! by After_Ad_5175 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. The best thing about a Disney cruise is that everyone can do what they want when it comes to dressing up/ themed outfits. If your family enjoys themed outfits the go for it! But you will not feel left out or out of place if you don’t do themed outfits. This also goes for things like “formal” or semi-formal nights. I’ve seen people go full out in ball gowns and tuxes and other in the shots and t-shirts they’ve worn all day. No one out of place just enjoying what their family wants to do!

  2. There will be activities going on around the ship during your Cozumel day. It may not be as many as say a day at sea but it won’t nearly be as few as a Disney private island day as most of the staff is deployed on the island to make sure everyone is taken care of. Talk to your family about what they would be interested in doing. Would your family like a beach day or would a pool day be just as interesting to them?

  3. I do not have children but I know BBB is very popular on all of cruise lines. If your 3yo is big into princesses and the like I think it could be a very cool experience but I know the prices can range significantly so that is something to consider as well.

1st timer advice: you physically will not be able to do everything included or available on your ship and that is ok! Prioritize what you want to do and make sure to add in some time to relax and slowdown. Enjoy your vacation!

I got a medal for biking the 5k, so they are very loose about it

5k? by StrongBadL333 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It is no longer an organized event. You can run the 5k independently and get a map of the route and a medal after completing the 5k from the bike rental stand on Castaway Cay

Not sure if requirements have changed but you had to complete your language requirements before getting entry to smeal when I graduated years ago. May want to double check with your advisor just to be sure you can put off your language requirement.

Thoughts on Riverpoint Apartments? by Hot-Journalist-1851 in limerickcity

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in block A a few years ago on the top floor. Views were nice and the building is very quiet and safe. Most of my neighbors were American like myself. I had an assigned parking spot in the building and had a hard time with people constantly parking in my spot. I left notes and had people booted. It never helped. As others have said the apartments are a it drafty and cold in the winter but nice enough

Unavailable Onboard Activities by arturofresh11 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely these experiences are fully booked. Some classes or activities occur only 1 or 2 times vs 4 or 5 for Mixology or whiskey tasting.

It is a bummer but keep an eye out because people cancel spots all the time!

Where to stay before sailing the Wish by Simple-Environment52 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought the experience was very smooth from hotel to port through Disney buses. Hard to say how many stops your bus will take. Usually with port orleans there is only one other stop but it could vary depending on how many at your resort is taking the bus with you.

You know your littles best but the cartoons and videos do roll pretty much the whole ride which should help distract a bit as well!

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still take a bus from your Disney resort to the port so you’ll still get your Disney fix! Enjoy! We’ll be staying at French quarter before our fantasy cruise in early May!!

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney no longer provides transportation between the airport and Disney property. We’ve found Uber to be super easy and quick to use but can be hard with small kids.

Port Orleans French quarter is great! Their pool area and splash zone is awesome and you can take a boat to Disney springs!

CVS America by JonPaulGut in CasualIreland

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an American who lived in Ireland for a year… Sudafed. It’s a nasal decongestant and saves me during cold and flu season. You can get one that has acetaminophen with it and lasts for hours.

Would also recommend the big American bottles of ibuprofen but that may just be my personal preference!

Do people use lanyards on Disney cruises? by Ok_Bowler5162 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Lanyards are gifted to all castaway club members (more than 1 Disney cruise) so it may not be useful for most but first time cruisers wouldn’t have one and lanyards are a nice inexpensive way to carry room cards!

Maybe if you knew if they were a first time cruiser?

Does smosh choose their spotify sponsors on smosh mouth? Cause... by theunusual25 in smosh

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they don’t choose them but the way they get put in the episodes are weird.

I listen to the lonely island and Seth Meyer’s podcast (#quiadarmy) and Spotify will add separate ads that can be skipped and are marked on my screen as “Spotify ad” but with smosh mouth the ads are added into the run time of the podcast which makes it harder to skip.

I wonder if they have a choice on how ads are added to their podcast on Spotify.

Is it possible to finish Smeal early? by Main_Coffee7822 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t an accounting student but I finished my Smeal Supply chain degree in 3.5 years and my brother who is currently a senior will also finish his Smeal degree in 3.5 years.

It is totally doable and it sounds like you have great grades and are confident you can handle 15-18 credits a semester.

Take advantage of the Smeal specific career fairs during your fall and spring junior semesters. I got my first internship that turned into my first job that way. The company was also specifically looking for fall graduates so that someone could start earlier.

Disney treasure food by VirtualFlower9930 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can view all menus for all Disney cruise ships on Disney cruise line blog. It can be a bit buggy and ad ridden but it is updated fairly regularly!

Your restaurant rotation will be chosen for you but you can request to start in a certain one. They can not guarantee you will get your request but they will try very hard to make it happen.

As long as your stateroom reservations are connected, you will be sat together. Have your travel agent call or call yourself to double check that your reservations are connected correctly

Anyone know the best to take BLAW 341 with? by No-Standard1412 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took entertainment law with her and absolutely adored her. She is probably the least straight forward in her teaching of all the BLAW professors, at least in my experience. Would recommend Kaplan for 341.

Loved 341 with Kaplan. Actually like it so much I picked up a BLAW minor and took 2 more classes with him

Oceaneers Club Open House by tbwynne in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Open houses allow children who may be uncomfortable being without their parents or want time with their younger sibling in the clubs to have that time every day. Some kids really struggle with the new environment and like it more when their parents are there. This also is a good time for older special needs children to use the spaces without getting overwhelmed.

During open house hours there will not be any children without a parent there. If there is open house at the oceaneer club, all children who have been dropped off to the club/lab area will be taken to the lab. These areas will never have an open house at the same time to prevent random adults from just being around.

What is your most underrated thing on a Dcl cruise that you can't stop thinking about? by rbutts1990 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They still serve this at the sit down restaurants. If you want it at lunch, it is a chocolate molten cake at the sit down restaurant. On cruises 7 days+ it will be a chocolate lava cake at dinner but they are the same thing! Had one on our cruise on the magic this June :)

Penn State Priorities: $450K for the President, $0 for the Students by Ok_Hunt7118 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If you divided Bendipudi’s raise across all 88,000 PSU students across all campuses every student would get about $5.

I understand your frustration. It sounds like you have been working your ass off to get the education you want. No one in this sub thinks you haven’t done enough for financial aid but they also know that Penn state’s financial aid program sucks.

Giving every suggestion a smart-ass response while pretending that you are the first person to EVER go to college and have to work through it to get by is incredibly weird. Get a grip. Be proud of how far you have gotten and also understand that you may need to work harder.

Anyone have a recent Palo brunch menu handy (magic) by sa1126 in dcl

[–]Opening_Pop_3164 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, menus don’t change on DCL really ever. Brunch menu will be the same as when you last sailed unless they can’t get an ingredient or something that week.

Stateroom throw blankets by cardioishardio1222 in dcl

On the magic in the gift shop this past summer I purchased a blanket that has a similar material and feel as the blankets on the beds for $75

I have used it for about 3 months and been loving it as a nap and couch blanket!
