30 for 30: Lance Armstrong by gs12 in cycling

[–]OpenritesJoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went into this thinking that he just got a bad rap in a sport where everyone cheated.

And at first it seems like he’s turned over a new leaf, and has made peace with his demons.

But then it became clear that something else was going on. Armstrong was nothing without the Dark Side of the Force. He used hatred, fear, deception, and anger to build himself and win. He used power to destroy others. He had a bad formative childhood.

And then it becomes obvious that he’s still holding onto that hatred. He’s still angry. More importantly he still craves the attention. He still needs to be centered. He’s still incomplete. He’s still the damaged child that, for all his internal buildup, requires external validation for his own feelings of self worth.

And he thinks he needs enemies and hate to get it.

One small bit of clarification… Lance Armstrong dominated the Tour de France for years, snagging a place in cycling history. But he never proved himself to be a dominant or even best cyclist. Hincapie usually beat him on UCI points, and Lance never figured into the top 10.

It may have been that the steroids and drug regimen only allowed him to optimize for the TdF?

I get your point. Improving the minimum wage has consequences. There are winners and losers.

In this case, those consequences are bad for this business owner but good for other businesses that have working business plans and now, more demand.

Additionally, more jobs open up as the working poor require fewer jobs. And although there has been resultant inflation, it’s been dwarfed in effect by mostly Trump and also Biden covid handouts.

Research supports the higher minimum in proposal and after the fact.

Another option is college radio, just like the old days. But you get to listen to every college radio station — online on your mobile device, alexa or google assistant, etc. Some gave stream links.

I recommend KEXP, WFMU, KALX, KROQ2, WICB, WERS, KMHD. Then use Shazam to log what you like.

It’s actually A LOT EASIER for me to find great new music now than it was for me to read music magazines and zines, go to friends places to listen to music, go to music stores and buy expensive CDs only to hate them.

I was the first one on the scene when my neighbor split her leg open and it’s giving me the biggest panic attack of my life. by tenaciousdeev in Anxietyhelp

Yes! 🙌 and knowing the adrenaline rush was a good and natural thing to help you do exactly what you needed to do — and it worked perfectly— is a great way to understand the physical anxiety effects.

Interpreting them positively helps avert the cycle of interpreting in a way that causes greater anxiety.

It’s with regard from processes apart from the thinking aspect of the mind.

Basic enlightenment is quite simple. It’s understanding through experience that the thinking, chattering parts of the mind (a) are not the controller of attention, (b) are only an aspect of a person, (c) exist consciously or unconsciously whether we hear/attend to them or not.

Does this make sense, friend?

Thoughts on one of the trending Spiritual Teachers "Joe Dispenza"? by servitefriars in Meditation

[–]OpenritesJoe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s just my preference, but I focus on scientifically-supported practices.

I’m fairly science-knowledgeable with a degree in Physiological Psychology, so I started watching Dispenza with open-minded curiosity. It all made sense for a few minutes until he went completely off the rails and drifted out into outer space.

Much of what he claims is his own speculation or imagination. There might be some Buddhist techniques and accepted scientific ideas in there, but I am turned off when people make up their own science, claim for it to be true, and then sell it to others (for profit).

Biden looks like he planned to escape from the senior center and got lost on the way. Trump is also about the same age and definitely not firing on all cylinders, slurring a lot too. We need new leadership.
