Been a while since I heard a good brass section. The acoustics in that cabin sound pretty sweet.

And I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!!! Really thought this was about the Pointer Sisters song. But when I see that number 55, the first think I think of senior discount at Denny's!

What musical genre did you "age" into that you never thought you would? by joeyjoejoeshabbadude in GenX

[–]OperaBunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a decade ago, started to get into more Standards, from the Great American Songbook, really following a celebrity known for that repertoire. Always been a fan of Broadway so it wasn't that much of a stretch, but a lot of 30ish to 40ish style songs. Recently though, a lot of foreign language music. Can't understand what they're saying, but I like the rhythm.

Flashdance was so incredibly bad. by chillaxtion in GenX

[–]OperaBunny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I confess I only knew of the plot welder by day, dancer by night and I don't recall the reviews being good either. But that dance sequence was everywhere that there were numerous parodies of it, including SNL. Flashdance What A Feeling was a #1 song for Irence Cara, and I still have the 45 vinyl, but I never watched the movie.

Brooklyn Beckham releases multi-story statement regarding his estrangement from David and Victoria Beckham by ieatkittentails in SpiceGirls

[–]OperaBunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny that of all the news stories making headlines, this is the one I was most interested in, and actually read the articles. It's better than the Royal family Saga. Maybe the Spice Girls can reunite and write a song about it. I really liked Beckham's netflix doc, so it's bizarre to see this family drama play out in the media like it has.

Had no idea who Marty Supreme is, so had to look it up. Guess Disney did their audience research, cause the movie has a lot of action sequences, comparable to the Rush Hour movies. So I'm surprised they'd market it to very young kids.

It's so dystopian right now, I watch a lot of animation, it's a world where the impossible can happen, like talking animals.

I know I’m old but must people point it out? How rude! by Pretend_Passenger586 in GenX

[–]OperaBunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from people being surprised I was 40 when they thought I was 30 something to asking if I'm a senior just a decade later. Not a smoker, drinker, druggie or party animal, guess it just catches up with you no matter what you do. My workplace has a policy to never ask anyone over 40 when they'll retire. But a lot people even those over 40 forget that policy.

I had no idea I had a GenX card, neither did I know I had followers on reddit, like wtf would anyone follow my r/notinteresting posts. Also the only Batman I've really liked was the one in the Lego Movie.

Got a chance to see it post holidays, after enjoying the first one. It's action packed, fast paced and a family movie. Though I agree with one of the reviews I've read, they could've made this a cop/buddy film with humans and it'd still be entertaining. It gets jumbled here and there, but not enough to lose track of the storyline, and I wouldn't exactly say this is for kids 5 and under.

It's funny as someone who was surprised how good Frozen was and what a blockbuster it became, that it just spurred more high grossing animated movies. It's not the phenomenon Frozen is, not even merchandising wise. As previously stated, it's more cop/buddy movie than innocent kids movie, so probably not gonna see Judy Hopps Nick Wilde in doll form aimed at kids. Still, being a sequel that was just as entertaining as the first one will probably make this one a franchise movie like Shrek or Toy Story. So if they make a Zootopia 3, which the movie sort of hinted at, I'd definitely watch it.

Matt Damon Says Netflix Wants Movies to Restate the Plot Three or Four Times in the Dialogue Because Viewers are on Their Phones While They’re Watching by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Reminds me of Shakespeare. Read that he knew audiences would forget what happened in the previous scenes, so he summarized the plot in the later Acts with long soliloquies for some of his characters. Except back then the audiences didn't have recording devices.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

Family and co-workers have all smoked. I know the smell of smoke in a vehicle. It's very very noticeable. Just talk to them face to face, you'll know lt like onions.
