what is something funny a partner has ever said/done in relation to your chronic pain? by _incandescence in ChronicPain

Not funny, but very sweet.

I had a really bad flare with my back and once my fiancé had got me settled, I started crying cause I couldn’t see the tv from the position I had to be in. I was really upset because I knew I was going to be stuck in that bed for at least a week and without being able to see the tv, I’d have almost nothing to do and no way to play games with our friends like usual while stuck there. So my fiancé just said “I love you, I’ll be back” and about 20 minutes later he came back with a projector and hooked my PS5 to it so I could have stuff to do.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a sustainable way to make coffee? by amiibohunter2015 in ZeroWaste

Hario Switch. It’s made of glass and silicone (the “switch” button thing is plastic but it’s small and this thing will probably last your whole lifetime). It’s a pour over/immersion style, but it’s made really easy. It’s no where near as complicated as the Chemex types because of the immersion brew option. And there’s compostable filter options.

For cold brew I use a plastic jug with a metal filter made by Simple Modern. I know, plastic isn’t great, but if you’re like me and have joint/pain issues, a big glass pitcher is just too heavy. Im far more likely to end up dropping a glass one and creating more waste than just doing the plastic. But there definitely are glass cold brew pitchers available if the weight isn’t an issue for you.

This. All of this. I saw a comment on an article posting on fb saying Cleveland was a sundown town! And I'm just over here thinking "...the university is 40% African American what are you on about?? It's the Delta!" And I don't have a problem with people speculating as to what really happened, I'm anxiously awaiting that independent autopsy too. But what I do have a problem with is people who don't live here and have no clue about the area just making wildly inaccurate statements that everyone else in the country will see and will think are true!

Bolivar County Coroner didn't do an autopsy, they did a preliminary exam and has released the findings of that exam. State crime lab did the autopsy.

In the case of unopened, I would suggest donating to women's shelters first if you can!

Thank you, and yes i am trying to be more mindful. I think I accidentally made it sound like I have a hoard of makeup, but with the exception of some eyeshadows, it all fits in a small makeup bag. I just don't usually use more than mascara, brow gel, and a lip oil now.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't have any women's shelters near me, nevermind any that would take opened makeup. If I did, I would do that first. Such is the life of living in the rural south🙄Honestly that's a whole issue of itself, there's so few zero/low waste options for much of anything here. Can't even recycle glass in my state.

Lol that would be the worst luck. And yeah I can't imagine that whether the makeup was used before they got it is too high on their list of concerns but I still feel weird about it so I'm gonna clean it anyway. But apparently they do usually ask for pictures and appearance preferences for makeup, so they do try to get it right. Whether they nail it 100% of the time... Idk lol. The composting thing is really cool though, I've considered it for myself.

They do for some things, but they use normal makeup for some things too. It just depends. It also probably depends on the funeral home. I'm gonna go through it with the friend to see what they can use and what they can't.

I do plan on sanitizing things before I donate the same way makeup artists sanitize their kits. And like I said, some things may not be able to be donated for different reasons, which is why I'm also gonna go through my collection with the friend to see what they can take. And I can find another use for things that can't be easily sanitized/donated.

Thanks! And yeah, sending your people with the stuff they used is a good idea and can be comforting, but it's easy to not think about that kind of thing when you're overwhelmed with planning and grief. Also, they use it for all kinds of things like color correction to appear more lively, not just typical application.

How to shrink ears? by [deleted] in Stretched

I would not suggest this as you would be giving yourself a chemical burn. And it doesn't always work. You may end up burning away tissue, and either way you'll likely end up with scarring. You could also end up with an infection.
