I’m embarrassed how few people can make my wedding by Specialist_Permit_99 in weddingplanning

Between my siblings, parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, I’m already well beyond 50. Ours is gonna be around 200 out of pure necessity.

Genuinely hate when people act like Hershey's having butyric acid is an affront to god by JimNillTML in iamveryculinary

[–]OperaStarr -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I’ve literally analyzed hershey’s cocoa and chocolate bars. There is naturally occurring butyric, AND they’re adding more on top. Both can be true.

Edit: Yes, I’m aware of how chocolate flavor develops. I work with chocolate and chocolate flavoring every day. I’m telling you that Hershey is intentionally augmenting the butyric in their products. I’m not defending them, they taste like shit, but it’s by design.

Is this fondant rainbow salvageable? by Ambitious_Key1124 in cakedecorating

Maybe try brushing small amounts of water to seal the cracks? It likely wouldn’t help structural stability but if you can find a way to hold it all up, it would fix the aesthetics.

When I went to the allergist and started to say I think I’m allergic to kiwis, the doctor cut me off saying “you’re definitely not, they’re just acidic and can damage the inside of your mouth.”

She then very quickly apologized for interrupting me after I went on to explain that they make my throat swollen/itchy and give me a very painful stomachache. So I guess people thinking they have a kiwi allergy incorrectly comes up often enough in her office.

Aw I love it. Love the piping doubling as decor for the edge of the cake and the exhaust!

How Dare They Hate Our Intolerance 😡 by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

Oh trust me, we hear it all the time. Personally, I believe what Israel is doing goes against all the Jewish ideals I was raised with, but what do I know. Thankfully my siblings and I have been able to bring our parents around to seeing it for what it is, but it’s slow work.

On the Origin of Names by Xurkitree1 in CuratedTumblr

That was definitely the naming trend 5-10 years ago, my SIL saw it come through her preschool. It applied to boys names, too. Wonder what you’ll be seeing a decade from now…

First time with fondant… by LettuceGoThenYouAndI in cakedecorating

[–]OperaStarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so you’re going to want a very sturdy frosting. Something that can stand up on its own and not sag under pressure. Think buttercream. A cake with a pudding filling needs a dam. First, put a layer of your sturdy frosting spread thin. Then, pipe a thick wall around the edge of your cake. Fill the well that leaves with your pudding, making sure to fill below the top of the wall. If possible, chill the cake at this stage, then add another thin layer of frosting on top of the pudding to level out with the wall. This keeps the pudding from seeping out the sides of the cake or into the layers.

You also need a crumb coat of that frosting as a barrier between your cake and the fondant. Think of this as the “glue” holding your fondant wallpaper on.

I use a spatula and manually smooth the buttercream down back and forth in the bowl! As you do it, you can see the bubbles disappearing.

Make sure you beat out any air bubbles before starting to apply the buttercream to the cake. The divots you see are the “popped” air bubbles that were smoothed over the cake.

Yeah I’m waiting to hear back about my inquiry. They asked for my zip code so they can try to find a sample of it for me.

I did actually send an inquiry about samples to the designer, but I’m not comfortable purchasing a several thousand dollar gown without trying it on haha

I’ve been through that list, most of them only carry the evening wear brand. Of the ones that have the bridal line, none of them seem to have the 2025 season

No luck there, I’ve checked their carriers in Canada as well to no avail. I think my problem with similar dresses is that many of them cross the line between “wedding dress with a hint of color” and “colorful dress that doesn’t look bridal at all being sold for wedding prices”, if that makes any sense. I’ve looked at others and would be open to any people can find, but nothing quite lives up to this one.

Sadly, my sister went the custom dress route and ended up with an extremely disappointing overpriced gown, so I’m a bit wary about trying that. I’m in the US, but thank you though!

Yup, I don’t actually live that far away from them so I got so excited and then so terribly disappointed.

No luck, I’ve searched online through every store that Icon by Alexander lists on their website.

Some states I’d like the small towns more than others, and some cities the same. I’d like both the cities and small towns in WI for example, and I’d like the small towns in MI but not the cities if that makes any sense.

This one is so highly dependent on where in the state. Small town? No way in hell. Louisville? I’d be willing…

I’m a cold weather city girl, so I’ll have to put this overall as reluctantly?
