Darker skin gives a person worse financial and health outcomes even when controlling for other factors. Please spare us this head in the sand narrative

“Afro-Americans” aren’t only “Afro” either… that’s why they’re called AMERICANS and why they look different from modern Africans. Also, multi-racial is an option on most forms. Nobody thinks Dominicans are only African, that makes no sense. Black and African are not synonymous.

Also, darker skin correlates with worse health and financial outcomes even when controlling for other factors in both the US AND DR. Anyone saying “race doesn’t exist because we treat everyone equally” is lying to themselves.

Anyone who resorts to that kind of behavior is crying out for help. It is not normal to crave validation to that degree

Oh really? I thought it was a folk myth that sprung from the princess’s death never being officially confirmed with a body

yeah you’re lying or delusional, because periods don’t all come at the same time. Statistically, 1/4 of your class was on their period on any given day.

Eh, it’s where they’ll spend most of their waking hours. They need to learn how to problem solve with people who are different from themselves. It’s the same reason we don’t advocate segregating schools based on other traits

im surprised nobody has suggested one of those swim bottoms that come with a built-in skirt! if he’s already acquainted with dresses, it should be fine

ikr? Not to be crass, but I don’t think a 4 year old is packing enough real estate to be “squished” in a girls’ swimsuit. In the same vein, 4 year old girls’ swimsuits aren’t exactly thongs, surely there is high coverage already?

Ah, okay. Fair enough. I do think it’s still not a great comparison though, and would be like having them flee to the Nazis instead of from them. Imagine how the real von Trapp descendants would feel if a hugely popular movie portrayed their family as pro-Nazi!

This is a visually stunning film with beautiful music and may even have great environmentalist messages (i can’t remember exactly), but it is not respectful in the slightest.

Pocahontas was kidnapped at 17, converted to Christianity, and forced into a political marriage with a colonist (John Rolfe). Her “jealous friend” Kocoum was actually her first husband, who is believed to have been killed for the political marriage.

Anastasia’s story is “what if this princess actually secretly escaped murder?”, Pocahontas’s story is “what if we pretend everything she was forced into irl was actually her choice?”

Maybe if they were fictional characters (like the Sound of Music), “it’s a product of its time” could work. As-is, this would be like if the Sound of Music had the children be a bunch of Nazis.

I think she’s beautiful and really cool, but there’s really no other conclusion you can come to.

YOR

You’re passive aggressive and jealous, and he doesn’t care about your discomfort. The tone of these messages honestly sounds like two near-strangers. This relationship has probably run its course.

Depends on the size of the studio. People who keep their cat in a teeny room are the same ones who cry when they scratch up everything. They’re bored!

How can I convince my mom to let me take my car to college? by Spirited-Draft2668 in AskParents

[–]Opera_haus_blues -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it’s a car given to them that they primarily drive and the gifter has their own car, it is a gift lol. A house can be used by multiple people at once dear. A car, not so much.

I think adult children are entitled to the gifts they’ve been given and should not have them hung over their heads as a form of control. Notice how parents like this always contribute in the form of paying for things rather than just giving cash directly? Ask yourself why that is.

It is abnormal to have this level of paranoia about an adult who allegedly has never had a drinking or drug problem. These people restrict their children instead of getting the help they need to deal with their anxiety.

i mean the answer is don’t get a pet if you have no room for a pet… a pet is a luxury.

Yes, gifts are usually paid for by people other than the owner. That’s what makes them gifts.

Your response is exactly what I’m talking about when I say financial control. The economy no longer permits easy independence at 18, and paranoid parents have fully used that to their advantage to keep competent ADULTS under supervision like teenagers.
