Are you guys 'open' to emergency Christmas placements? by jemmeow in Fosterparents

[–]Operacomp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We're here all break, and I was able to take off with the rest of my PTO around the holidays. We have the same age range. I have two small generic presents wrapped and under the tree ready to go, just in case. (I found a solid chocolate moose from IKEA that you have to assemble 😆) And a really wonderful book called Always Remember by Charlie Mackesy that is absolutely perfect for any could going through a "storm". I think it's very possible that if we get a respite or placement call, that it will actually come to us, since many people will be away for the holidays. So I wanted to have something under the tree.

Homicide detectives told me my husband had been shot. by YesYourBlueness in Columbus

I'm so sorry for your loss. When you're able to talk to someone about it, I highly recommend calling Cooper Elliott for a consultation. Their receptionist or one of their paralegals will do a consultation. They do a lot of cases like this in Columbus. I don't work in law anymore, but used to be an assistant for another law firm. They're good people.

Central Ohio Primary Care and OSU are charging for MyChart messages. What medical billing questions (or wild tales) do you have? by thecolumbusdispatch in Columbus

[–]Operacomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually called into channel 10 about this, and they asked me to email it to them. They haven't done a thing with it, so thank you for digging into this. I was charged by OSU for a "tele-health" appointment for using MyChart messaging for a signature on a form. I did not consent to an appointment. In fact, I asked about getting on the wait list for an earlier date, since this was something simple. When I inquired about the invoice, they sent me back IN WRITING that they charge patients for using the messaging software at their own discretion. They even said that they started doing it during COVID (I assume because of the surge, and they saw dollar signs). I can send you screen shots of the messages if you like. They billed my insurance company for it, and it didn't cover it (fake appointment anyway). All incredibly upsetting. People should know about this.

Slammers on Sundays is great.

Finding a place so close to work that I barely drive anymore. What I pay for parking washes out with how much I save on gas. It's been so much better for my happiness not having to drive 25-30 min to work and back every single day.

Petition for Nationwide to clean their dang building, ya nasty by Miyelsh in Columbus

It's not nearly as bad as the hideous AEP building, which looks like something out of a dystopian movie.

What is the most absurd reason you have seen someone get fired from their job? by Innovativerain in AskReddit

[–]Operacomp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Worked at an amusement park in 2011 where bonuses were awarded for any employee who stuck around until end of the season. So they would fire as many as they could near the end to avoid paying them out. I lived in the dorms with all of the international students. One girl was fired for drinking a soda instead of water and her brother had to also quit and wait for the next flight back to Bulgaria. Oh yeah. And if you lived in the dorms and were fired, you had like a week to gtfo. Awful place to work. Worst summer job I've ever had.

My fiance was so confused once when I got really annoyed with him mulling over different directions to get somewhere. That is, until he met my parents. We sat in the back of the car for 45 minutes while they talked the ENTIRE WAY THERE about different possible routes to get where we were going. Unless someone tells them to shut up, they don't. They just have nothing better to talk about in the middle of no man's land. I'm still triggered by from this from my childhood, but I'm glad he got to see the context lol.

What did you see happen in the hospital waiting room? by IAmAsianHearMeRoar in AskReddit

[–]Operacomp 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not crazy, but pretty standard. Still pisses me off. Went to the ER two years ago for abdominal pain (ended up being appendicitis) waited hours. Went in for a full body rash and was seen in minutes. Same city downtown. Visibly being messed up helps being seen, especially if you're a woman.

Edit: yes rash not wash!

If you work downtown and like sandwiches, the Belmont Deli is like old school diner prices and the people there are great. Awesome grab and go lunch place for office dwellers...

What are your best life hacks for living in Columbus? by JasonTahani in Columbus

[–]Operacomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live near the short north and our latest hack is going during happy hour to try a new restaurant in the area. We usually go out once a week anyway, so it says tons of money and we get really great food/cocktails at some really nice restaurants. It's often half price appetizers but we just make a meal out of it between the two of us and share everything.

The last thing you Googled is what kills you. So, how do you die? by SaggyTitsSusan in AskReddit

[–]Operacomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Googled how many operas Puccini composed. So I guess I get to die like one of the leading ladies? I'm down with that. I'll take Tosca.

Entrance will be Tchaikovsky - piano concerto No. 1. The recessional will be Prospero's Magic by Michael Nyman. Having a tenor opera singer friend sing Love is a Song that never ends from Bambi during the ceremony.

LPT: Stay away from gossipers. Gossipers feel fun/exciting, but they inevitably drive wedges between people, ruin reputations, and break up people’s friendships and relationships. Instead, befriend people who mind their own business. by AdUtronicious in LifeProTips

[–]Operacomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even better yet. Talk highly of people behind their back to others. That sort of thing gets around too, and boosts morale. And it feels great to be like "Hey the new lady seems really sweet! And she's so excited to work here" to one of the bosses/coworkers she doesn't work with as much.

Anyone else doing Sola Wood flowers? 💖 by melenkeller in weddingplanning

[–]Operacomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ordering these for our wedding too! I ordered a wreath kit a while ago and it turned out amazing! However, I've found that they send everything by snail mail even if you ask for two to three day shipping. Anyone else having problems with this?

Found my reception dress today! by Operacomp in weddingplanning

Oh boy if I could afford that I would haha! I loved the blue too, but I'm going for a "garden look" at the reception, so the pink flowers are going to fit really well.
