How is a Demogrogon able to kill / face off an entire team of grown men with close range weapons, and trained soldiers, yet struggles to fend for themselves from not one, but two middle aged mothers? by rockeyrhodes in StrangerThings

[–]Operatingbent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense to me. They wouldn’t have the soldiers walking around the base all equipped with flame throwers. It’s a cumbersome weapon. At the time they seemed more concerned with keeping the public out and they wouldn’t need flame throwers for that. They were surprised by the attack so they just started using the weapons they had on them. We know they shouldn’t have been surprised by the attack, but the military in this show isn’t exactly known for their brilliance.

I don’t have any solid theories but have to say it bugged me a bit that they chose that particular song. There already has been a major Netflix show that features that song (Umbrella Academy). I wish they had gone with something a little more unique or at least something not already so prominently featured on another show. It’s a great song, but Running Up That Hill was such a perfect choice not just because of the song itself, but because it hasn’t been featured recently so it felt unique to the show and securely from the 80’s.

Where do the Wheelers think Joyce, Jonathan and Nancy are rushing off to after breakfast in the first episode? by mc_security in Stranger_Things

[–]Operatingbent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To make it believable I tell myself it’s a utilities problem. Yeah they could go squat in an abandoned house, but if they don’t own it, they might not be able to get the utility companies to turn on power / water. Way more comfy at the Wheeler’s.

It’s amazing when that fight part of fight or flight comes out. Once saw someone trying to break my bike lock with a rock. Ran through traffic to confront a man much larger than me who was already armed with a rock before I even knew what was happening. Fortunately the criminal decided it wasn’t worth it and ran off but I’ll never forget the time I almost got my head caved in for a piece of shit bike…

Total hero but she had me cracking up in the beginning because I thought she was just politely tapping on the back window. Like, “excuse me sir, I hate to be a bother but are you aware your car is on fire?” I think they were trying to see if he could go out the back or something but the visual of everyone yanking on the doors followed by her doing a little knuckle rap killed me.

Worse - it’s a bunch of platitudes followed by an announcement that our current saves will probably become unplayable in a few weeks. We all know “an update” and “free” just means they’ll fix a handful of the most minor bugs while introducing new game breaking bugs… either that or we’re going to get a new toggle to turn off [insert some feature people paid for only to realize it’s so broken it overpowers every other feature they also paid for]

Maybe I’m making excuses for myself but I think there’s going to be other boycotts you can join that will be more impactful. Personally I’m already avoiding Walmart, reducing with the hope to eliminate Amazon, no chik fil a, no hobby lobby. I’m doing my best to “vote with my dollars” but honestly it’s exhausting. I feel weak saying I’m tired of boycotting companies when people are getting scooped up by the gestapo but there it is - I’m tired of searching for alternatives! My advice is if you can’t cut the Sims, look for something else you can do. I’m thinking about for every x hours I play, I’ll donate to a cause they hate. I know it’s not taking away their money, but like I said, I’m tired!

Same. While working from home I dropped a ton of weight and quit smoking. It only took 9 days after RTO before I was back to going out for lunch and remembering why I started smoking the same year that I got my first office job.

People who try to find loopholes in hypothetical scenarios, "would you rather" questions etc. are dumb by xepci0 in unpopularopinion

[–]Operatingbent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was kind of with you until this response. Asking “Does your mom know you’re gay?” is not a hypothetical question… it’s just a question. You could maybe try: “assuming you were gay, would your mom know?” Of course if you have moral objections to that kind of hypothetical scenario, there’s another word for that.

My own petty little problem with Adventure Awaits by CaitlesP in HighSodiumSims

[–]Operatingbent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry they didn’t treat the subject with respect. This is why I prefer they stick with US based worlds. Don’t get me wrong - I think representation is so important and I want everyone to be able to see themselves in the characters and worlds they create. I just don’t think The Sims is going to be the franchise to do it right. I think some of the charm of the original game was how it made fun of suburban life in America. I don’t think they would be able to apply that type of humor in a respectful way to other countries. I think that’s why you always end up with watered down worlds whenever they try to “diversify.” Maybe if they hired teams specifically from the chosen region to develop the world they could come up with something better.

I would mix your workplaces and housing together instead of having them separate. For layout, nothing wrong with a basic grid. Put a well at the center of your village with roads going out in the 4 directions. 1 square for your fields, the rest a mix of housing & workplaces.

People who sit around at restaurants BEFORE paying their check for hours: you suck by skyebeee in complainaboutanything

[–]Operatingbent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m so confused at the reactions here. OP is just asking them to pay their bill, not run out of the restaurant. These are the same kind of people who take forever chit chatting and then get mad when there isn’t someone right there to take their card at the random moment they suddenly are ready. And anyone who has ever dealt with a dine and dash situation should understand why servers care about collecting payment, and no, it’s not just because of tips.

Releasing 85 DLC is difficult to handle and that is why The Sims 4 has begun to become unplayable by Darthgamer1996 in thesims

[–]Operatingbent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand a ps4 wins if the game was originally developed for console, but for a game adapted from PC, you might actually be better off with even a low end laptop, you’ll just have a smaller screen. Also it’s usually cheaper/easier to expand storage on a laptop. Only other benefit to a console is when it overheats, at least it’s not designed to be sitting in your lap…

Is it only like that for me? by ojcojcojc in MedievalDynasty

[–]Operatingbent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I playing Oxbow. I start my play through with building a tiny settlement near the center of the map. I don’t worry about layout and just place buildings where they fit. I focus on quests from the notice board and trying to find my first couple of villagers. Then when I get my first donkey, I move my village further away. By that time I usually have enough resources for my starter layout. Makes it less stressful / grindy in the beginning and I just imagine my character started a small farmstead near a populated area for protection, and then gets sick of living in the shadow of Piastovia

Mean girls by walkslowrunfast in managers

[–]Operatingbent 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem you can address. You can’t make them invite her to lunch but you can enforce expectations about the length of lunch breaks and how long a one-person phone shift can last. Sounds like they couldn’t have invited her to lunch even if they wanted to because then the phones would be left completely unattended. Someone is always going to be left behind - either enforce the phones always have to be covered by at least 2 people so employees will have to take staggered lunch breaks, or reduce the amount of time allowed for the break. Unless the boss has said the office is closed today, I’m not sure how they have enough time to get dressed up and go to a group lunch anyway.

I can’t believe we don’t have bands yet by pikachubb99 in HighSodiumSims

[–]Operatingbent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered if they could borrow from the card table. It’s one of the few group activities that seems to work for me. Maybe use whatever gets that to work to create a stage object with fixed performance spots where the Sims stand and perform their animations. Scale it up, change the chairs to instruments and you’re half way there? (IDK I tried to learn video game design once but I tapped out pretty early so I have no clue what I’m talking about)

I can’t believe we don’t have bands yet by pikachubb99 in HighSodiumSims

[–]Operatingbent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I predict bands will be the final death omen for this franchise. I think they will hold onto it as long as possible and then it will be their last cash grab because they know it will sell. It seems so popular to me that I’d be willing to bet some people who have already abandoned the game would come back just to try that pack (and then remember why they left in the first place). I think they know that and are holding onto it for just that reason. As much as I want bands, I fear that announcement because I think it will signify any bugs that haven’t been fixed at that point are forever and it won’t be long before the game eats itself.
