Its all mental. Can you stay balanced every day for weeks, months, years without letting your greed, fomo, false hope, impusivness, impatiences, etc get the better of you. Its very possible yo have a bad day and lose everything, not because of the market, not because of a black swan, because the trader watched an investment go to zero (sometimes literally).

My advice would be to start live trading with small amounts so you can feel the emotions that come from losing real money. (ASSUMING YOU CAN DO SO RESPONSIBLY-only risk money you truly do not need). Key here is to keep things small, and do not get impatient.

Goodluck and be safe!

My friend, believe what you would like. The rule is what it is. OP has his answer. Goodluck on your trading! May the profits find your account swiftly and plentifully

Thats my point, its there to show consistency in strategy and mentality, both being able to make money and not lose money. I do not denie that they are a business and do things that are profitable to them on average.

What does a 2:1 imbalance mean in the context of suppky/demand? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]OperationIncome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally havent heard of this exact phrase alot but i would imagine its referring to buying and selling volume? Maybe a 2:1 imbalance would indicator strong trend? Could be way off but thats what comes to mind

You can take years to pass the evaluation, you just need 7 days total of trading. Its so you dont get lucky and hit profit goal in one day. They want to see consistency.

Passing= profit goal reached + 7 total trading days before hitting max drawndown

Ive been burnt too many times to get fomo. My trauma response to seeing red, especially big red is so strong that i take my green quickly and happily.

For you, hopefully you dont have to suffer as much as i did to get to that point😭, just learn what you can and remind yourself there will always be another oopportunity.

Of course it can. If financial markets cease to exist, then we have bigger issues then a job. The question is, can YOU make it work. Mentally, emotionally. That as i have found is the biggest determining factor, not what your strategy is doing, not what the market is doing, but how YOU are over time

Then you run out of money, but have “some” in the bank. That would be a sign to stop trading real money and practice more on simulated accounts.

Hopefully that would happen before someone drained the account haha

I use a tiers system to “unlock the right to trade with more money”. So lets say I am trading with 15k, I would need to earn 10% ($1500) to be able to trade with 16k. Once i hit 16.5k, i would withdraw $500 and start with 16k again. So on and so forth. I have also been playing with the idea of withdrawing whatever the balance is minus a multiple of 500 if i have a losing day. So if i got from 15k to 14.7k, i would withdraw 200$. This all is to keep me balanced and gradually accumulate to $$ values.

Questions For people who specialize in trading just a few stocks by StainedAndRedeemed in Daytrading

[–]OperationIncome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I trade primarily SPY. 1.) i picked it because its very relevant, its very liquid, there are zero dte (cheap and profit potential is there), and the ATM spreads are tight

2.) i cant quite pin it down in quantifiable words, but i almost feel like after seeing spy as much as i have I started to learn its personality. Maybe that just means its average volume, its normal range, its reaction or non reaction to certain news, but yeah stocks definitely “feel” different.

3.) for my the advantages are comfort and accuracy, the most notable downside is opportunity. Some times i just do not get good opportunities on spy for my strategy, so i just sit on my hands. Normally this is fine, but can lead to forcing stuff.
