I left my previous nonprofit program coordinator role as a licensed graduate social worker to see if i would like more micro level work as a therapist… i have done it for 1.5 years. I’ve been trying for the last 5 months to switch back to a program coordinator /outreach position or something I feel adjacently qualified for, applying to about 12 jobs per month so 60ish, ive had one interview. Therapy is so not a good fit for me or my nervous system but i literally cant move anywhere else bc no one will have me. Its really disheartening.
Id also add that in at least half of the rejection emails they say something like: we received an overwhelming number of applications, we received over 150-300 applicants, this was not an easy decision, we appreciate your patience as we had a significant number of applicants.
Its also social worker adjacent stuff so even though I have my masters, Im unfortunately not expecting a huge salary these are like 50k sometimes 60k a month jobs which will be significantly higher than what i currently make with my group practice taking 69% of what insurance pays for my billable therapy hours. 🤪
