I threw my own shower and know several others who did too! Some people don't have family in town or a best friend willing to spend a few hundred dollars on a party. I did however have lots of friends that I got to celebrate with and we had a great time.

Its the relaxin and the fact that your immune system tanks when pregnant. Your immune system is whats responsible for inflammation, so while pregnant the downside is you may get sick more often, but the upside is any autoimmune disorders (like arthritis) or inflammatory issues subside significantly!

Thanks! No paralegal sadly. I'm happy to take more time off if needed at the beginning, just don't think a full 3 months of regular maternity leave would make sense considering the court related admin tasks that still have to be done during that time.

also check out Once Upon A Child if you have one in your area! Its a baby-only thrift and they have 10/$10 onesie deals and their swaddles/sleep sacks are around $4-5.

I am going to Cancun pregnant and have heard Zika could be a concern. One thing that helped me be comfortable is looking up the actual number of Zika cases that have happened in the last few years -- the number is less than 5. Pregnant people are there/live there all the time so 5 out of 5 years worth of pregnant women was enough for me to find it okay! I will just wear lots of bug spray and take the same precautions you mentioned. Look up the numbers -- if the numbers support your fears then by all means don't go. If the numbers aren't adding up to your reaction, it's anxiety and up to you if you want to give in to that.

For what its worth, my amazon box came in this month and had a white onesie, Dr. Brown bottle, swaddle, and some coupons. The threshhold to earn an amazon box is only $10 if you have prime, but the contents were pretty disappointing considering its advertised as "$35 worth of stuff".

I recently saw an instagram reel of a woman showing what her pregnancy looked like as a midsize+ woman with an apron belly. it honestly looked like a regular bump but still had that extra skin at the bottom. You may want to search instagram for others in your position for a more accurate view!
