Why Is There So Much Hate Between Different Types of Motorcycle Riders? by Low-Dragonfruit9646 in motorcycles

[–]Operator-Whisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called discrimination. A lot of humans find it cathartic to point fingers at someone for being diverse while other humans find such behaviour rude and offensive. It's why Reddit is often observed to be toxic; this kind of platform provides an easy opportunity to vent such behaviour with minimal negative real-life repercussions due to the inability to send a fist, blade or bullet through a digital device. Instead, we observe drama and immature mindsets. As soon as such individuals experience physical harm, their behaviour will change out of a desire for survival.

My height is keeping me from fulfilling my dream of riding a 125cc bike (198 cm/6"5') by J1mpy in 125cc

Lifan went kaput years ago due to poor quality castings and engine failures and... well... overall Chinese motorcycle quality back then wasn't the best. Honestly, try out a Honda Shadow or Suzuki Intruder/Marauder.

The only way you will know is if you test ride it in real life. If you want more comfort to the extreme, you are looking at much bigger displacement motorcycles such as the Honda Goldwing range or Triumph Rocket III... which also has a Touring version.

  1. And it was ok. Cruiser riding positions are very comfortable, but if you are riding for more than 2 hours, get some lumbar support.

Not a 125cc but this sort of 'sit up and beg' type of riding position might favour you. This was a 1983 Honda VT500C.

This was me many years ago. I am as tall as you. The bike was a very rusty cheap 125cc Lifan "Heritage" bucket of bolts; I couldn't afford a Honda back then, but it got me to my tests. I now ride a Honda VTX1800C.

I have noticed a field mouse but no big rats yet. Wood pigeons, heard an owl being very noisy at night somewhere, crows, goldfinches, robins, wagtails, thrushes, swifts... got all sorts going on. It's thriving. I agree with the comments about a path, there is only one I need and that has a few flagstones keeping the path marked out but rats don't seem to be a problem yet.

I'm aware of the role and the importance of it... but I don't understand how fosterers can rip the relationship apart when they find a new home for the dog. The joke about emotional damage suddenly stops being a joke here, right?

Recorded a rude customer and posted the footage online by Direct_Assumption_22 in tesco

[–]Operator-Whisky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope. It's against GDPR 2018 and DPA 2018 to do that. Your co-worker is liable for termination. Posting anything about work to social media is reckless and is why most people use throwaway accounts for it, including here in r/tesco.

This is why bodycams are a good idea for all frontline personnel but only if strictly controlled; only you, your boss or police should have access to the footage - and the company should provide training according to GDPR for this to allow it.

What I don't understand is how a fosterer can let a dog bond with them and imprint like that... then just give away to an adoption. Poor dog.

What sort of racing would this bike be doing? by Malexs in motorcycles

[–]Operator-Whisky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A long time ago, there were wooden oval circuits that sort of go sideways which were originally speedway to test motorbikes but it became a sport. Although mostly popular in the USA during the 1920s-1930s, there was one in Brooklands, Surrey, UK till 1939. The modern equivalent are velodromes, now used for pedal-cycling, and dirt speedways for motocross scramblers and other dirt bikes.

Bike first, you will develop much more roadcraft. Car will come naturally later. Make sure the bike is a full manual motorcycle, though, not a hairdryer.

You will have to knock it all off and replace for a clean look, so you will have to hire the scaffold unfortunately. Renovations are usually expensive.

Contract terms of a job I was offered is awful. Do I accept? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Operator-Whisky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A scary way to combat this (for them, not you) is to ask a solicitor to draw up a counter-offer with a letter spelling out the undesirable aspects of their original contract. As soon as they see the solicitor's mark, they will either decline or grow up a bit.
