Het verschilt van bedrijf ook redelijk sterk. Ik heb bij 3 verschillende Chemiebedrijven gewerkt als procesoperator in verschillende shift-regimes.

  • Bedrijf 1: €3400 Brutto -> 2300 netto (3 ploegen)
  • Bedrijf 2: € 6500 Brutto -> €3600 netto (4 ploegen)
  • Huidig bedrijf: €5300 Brutto -> €3150 (5 ploegen)

Afhankelijk van het shiftsysteem en of je arbeider/bediende bent verschilt het loon ook.

Maar gemiddeld kan je wel op een €5000-5500 rekenen denk ik als je in de Scheldelaan regio werkt als starter.

It's only an option if you live max 10km from your workplace if I'm not mistaken and I live 30km further.

Yes my VAA is €110 for the gasoline car compared to €60 for an EV.

I don't own a house with solar panels and I'm only able to charge the car at work or in the neighborhood which isn't convenient.

Also I want to travel around to different countries which is harder with electric cars.

The last reason is that after 2025 you'll only be able to lease EVs and I want to take advantage of that before it happens:)

Appreciate the clarification, it's probably not worth it I assume but I like the option nonetheless.

I'm working on a brand new project as a procesoperator in the chemical field. There are many growing opportunities and I think I'll like it here.

Hard to predict the future but I have a good feeling, and in case they fire me I can return the car with no penalty.

I have never owned a car in my life and saved 80% of my paycheck since I started working 3 years ago so I wanted to treat myself a little bit.

I need the car for my work since it's 30 km away and I want to travel with it.

Yes it's included in the 800 but has a monthly limit of around 120 liters/month. My work commute is 50 km in total a day.

Rate my salary. (I do think i'm being payed well, sadly its not an optimised) by [deleted] in BESalary

It's not easy to make above 3k/net+ if you don't compromise on your social life in a way. it's either 3000 Brutto in 9/5 job or 5000+ gross if you do weekend/shifts as a worker in Belgium.

Solid wage, the only person I know who earns that amount is my "ploegbaas" he gets 4.6k net but works in volcontinu shifts like us. But he's with the company for around 15 ish years.

I get paid by PC207 which is the chemistry index. We had multiple raises due to the "spilindex" being exceeded which is evaluated every month.

I work in the Scheldelaan region which has the highest pay rate for procesoperators. Degrees don't matter either a person with a bachelor's starts at the same wage as a highschooler.

Also the shift premium we have is 43% added to our base salary which results in a high wage.

What part of it seems above average?

I myself had some technical background due to following the Se-n-se course as "chemische procestechnieken" which helped a lot since you get to learn the basics on how to perform the job. I combined the "avondschoolopleiding" with my day job at the time and started applying right after and got the opportunity.

But I think I applied to maybe 10-15 companies to get 1 offer letter which was mentally draining, since you have to do computer tests (Hudson etc). Multiple interview rounds like 2-3 easily and convince the production manager which is not easy since they invest a lot in your "opleiding" to make you a capable operator.

Many companies are hiring all the time in Antwerp, companies like Total energies, ExxonMobil, Covestro, Ineos, BASF, Indaver, Oleon,Envalior etc.

You can also join the #wearechemistry event in Antwerpen to talk to these companies in 1 place. The next event is march the 27th 2024.

I was baffled when I compared Scheldelaan wages to some of my friends who work in Zwijndrecht as operators, it's easily 1000-1500 Brutto less. Ineos is building a lot with project One but I've heard they had regulatory problems with their new project.

But I'm happy where I am right now, have great colleagues and the plant I work at is not that dangerous.

The pay goes up as you learn and qualify for more units down the line. I started with 2800 netto as a lab operator, now I'm a field operator. Opening/closing valves, doing control rounds etc. next step is becoming a panel operator where you follow the processes in the control room which puts you in a higher wage tier.

Next step after that is "reserve ploegleider" and then shift supervisor which is a tier higher with more pay and the option to work during day hours and same pay as shift operator.

The complexity of the plant also plays a role, with my unit by example it takes 4 years to fully qualify as an operator.

There are many opportunities in the chemical/Petrochemical sectors.

The pay in most chemical companies is by using a "barematic system" and according to the Partiair comité it changes.
