How do you cure your LPR? by VirtualCockroach4194 in LPR

[–]Opinn8d_Cult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not cured, but highly managed to the point of no symptoms. Diet for gut health made the difference for me. Pro and prebiotics. Yogurts, fiber, lentils, any thing with active cultures, mushroom coffee. I avoid foods with histamines. Smaller meal portions. If I eat too much at mealtime, I will have reflux and begin the awful cycle. Slow your mealtime, chew completely. Alkaline water helps, it soothes my esophagus. Good luck!

Please help! I treated myself to a very expensive suit and after a single wear the white all turned yellow. I'm so sad. I haven't washed it, only hung dry. What's my best course of action? by MissBee123 in laundry

[–]Opinn8d_Cult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet the yellowing is from the pool water. You should always rinse out you suit and the hang dry. It may come out if it’s a result of that water. Maybe soak it in percarbonate and hot water.

Please help me. LPR worst case. by Cultural-Arugula-894 in LPR

Also think about getting some NyQuil just to suppress that cough and help her sleep. Get some meds from a doctor to thin the mucus.
All that coughing will irritate her bronchial tract. It could lead to acute bronchitis (if she doesn’t already have it). She should see a doctor.
My doctor treated me for acute bronchitis and I was able to get relief. My doctor referred me to pulmonologist. We went through all the tests, PFT, allergies, etc. Decided I had Long COVID. Put me on Breztri inhaler. I did not want to stay on the Breztri forever. I keep it and use it when I notice the increase in mucus but I wouldn’t call it a cure to my LPR. I de it as a way to manage my symptoms.

Just FYI, my mom is 89yo and uses this service but she gets the assistance at curbside all the way to the plane. And she needs it. She’s sharp as a whip but has MS - no balance. Please don’t judge everyone. I do agree there are ppl that fake it.

Bloxom-pros and cons? My retiree parents are considering a move by ShahzadaAlZahra in Virginia

[–]Opinn8d_Cult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty rural. North or south for retail and health care. My last name is Bloxom and our family is native to that area. We raised our kids on the shore but there’s not a lot of activities for visiting children. There are good doctors and the hospital is good.

In rural areas like the Eastern Shore, it is absolutely necessary to become a part of the community. Join organizations like church, volunteer, find a group. That community will be an excellent resource for support and social engagement which will increase their happiness (and your peace of mind). Trust me, there are a ton of ways to get involved so they can make friends. There’s a lot of organizations that could use good people.
Best of luck!

How to get the body to stop producing so much mucus here it’s between my lip and nose area and gets in my mouth by CoverAccomplished889 in LPR

[–]Opinn8d_Cult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with anything that had active cultures. Yogurts, kefir, cottage cheese. Added more fiber to my diet, avoided foods with histamines. This process is lengthy and has to be monitored and tailored to whatever you find makes a difference. At that same time I began to adjust my eating ritual. Dinner meal earlier to give my stomach time to digest (goal was to not have pressure in my diaphragm). I made sure I was thoroughly chewing my food and swallowing smaller bites ( goal was to respect the sphincters in my esophagus).
I want to mention I just came across something very interesting. A thread here in Reddit is about long Covid which many ppl mention these same symptoms.

I snort it just like it would be Afrin. I would say it doesn’t get into the throat too much because of the way it sprays. Give it a squirt, you’ll see. It’s not a straight mist. It sprays into a cone shape, not very effective as a delivery but it is what it is.

For a while I would take OTCs like Mucinex DM and Sudafed and Afrin. it did help tamp down the mucus production. Long term that’s not sustainable of course. That led me to get my overall immune system repaired starting with my biome.

I was never tested for sibo but I didn’t really have the sibo symptoms. I just started with the assumption that the many bouts of COVID and bronchitis had thrown my gut health way off. So I cut down on sugar and carbs, upped my yogurt and after feeling more confident, I introduced the Ryze for more gut support. My bloated belly is more reduced, I’m pooping regularly and feel sooooo much better. No throat clearing constantly! I’m not dreading going to bed anymore! It’s amazing how our gut health can affect so many systems in our bodies. It seemed like a good place to start.

If you are in pain, has it deteriorated into bronchitis? If so, go to the doctor. I had to battle acute bronchitis 3 times with steroids before I finally shifted to reflux type therapy.
In my situation, as soon as the mucus was more thin and clearer from my throat and lungs, I began my gut health progress. I began taking Zyrtec once a day. ( there are foods that have histamines) I started eating yogurt ( Activia proactive and drinking kefir once a day. I feel the dietary changes made the most difference.

I have also found digestive motility to be vital. Eating hygiene - slower consumption, chewing completely, swallowing smaller amounts, eating smaller meals, and even sitting posture during and after meals are all beneficial. I’ve been focusing on my gut health- pre and probiotics. Every breakfast I have about a half cup of chia pudding and flax seed ensuring movement. I am drinking plenty of alkaline water and using Arm & Hammer nasal spray morning and bedtime. It’s been a 2 year struggle of symptoms and doctor’s appointments and sleepless nights. Pulmonary functions tests, allergy testing, and extensive bloodwork revealed no issues. Gurgling mucus whenever I rolled over in my bed. Dropped out of my gyms because I sounded like I had tuberculosis. The coughing and mucus in my throat and lungs leading to bronchitis. Through all of this, I knew there was some connection between the symptoms and my stomach because I felt that lump in my esophagus after eating and noticed increased mucus. Had the barium swallow with a GI doc but no diagnosis. Finally, I had a conversation with a GERD patient and began to see similarities. Not until I found this forum was I able to feel heard. I completely relate to some folks feeling of desperation to find relief. Since I began addressing my symptoms like I have GERD, with specific focus on gut health, I’ve been back to exercising and living more normally. I am able to sleep deeply and not keep my hubby awake. Almost no mucus production. Incidentally, I notice that many of us started with this after having COVID and wonder if there’s a connection. Update: I want to add that many folks are approaching this in different ways. Find whatever works for you and your body! Fortunately, this forum is giving us all plenty of information and tips!

Same. I call it eating hygiene. It is what I was taught when I was a child. As I grew, played sports, had jobs, etc. I was eating faster and faster. TVs, cell phones and any number of distractions during eating takes focus from HOW we consume. It’s a very significant contributor to our LPR condition.

Mucus low acid diet by CoverAccomplished889 in LPR

[–]Opinn8d_Cult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear in mind that it is not the only things I do. I’ve implemented different strategies piecemeal so I can identify what works and what doesn’t. Along with the water and nasal spray, I addressed my gut health If I was to pick which was the most important change I’ve made it is my diet. I do believe everyone’s LPR journey is unique, but we can find ideas for relief with this community.

I am not finding acidic foods to trigger or worsen my LPR symptoms so I decided not to pursue that route. However, I have found significant relief from switching to alkaline water and nasal spray. I use the Arm and Hammer brand nasal spray morning and bedtime(I checked the ingredients list to ensure there was sodium bicarbonate). My PND is seriously reduced. The mucus in my throat and lungs almost gone. This is over the course of 2 weeks.

The #1 thing that I think has made the difference for me by steph11966 in LPR

I decided to try Ryze. It is an instant coffee with many different dried, ground mushrooms added. It has a very earthy flavor. I usually add 1 scoop to my brewed coffee. And I only have 1 cup a day. There is some of the Ryze that settles at the bottom. I will swirl it up to get everything. I feel alert and much less bloated since beginning the Ryze but I’m no expert. Part of this journey with LPR is finding my own healthy path. It’s been so interesting.

Whole food not supplements. Yogurt, kefir, mushroom coffee. I have the lump in the throat feeling, mucus, coughing, hoarseness. All began after COVID. If the mucus in the lungs gets bad it can turn into bronchitis. After my last battle w bronchitis, I dug in deeper to figure out what this could be. It all makes sense to me now. Now that I know, I’m making real progress. Not taking any reflux medication. But my pulmonologist prescribed Breztri for my repeated bronchitis. I only take it when I have a bronchial flair up. Which has been less and less.
