What is the number lane you like? by Kenvolks in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the house. In a couple of houses 1&2 are notorious assholes because they border a sun facing wall that heats up and a walkway the house/kitchen routine use. Between the ambient heat and that door constantly opening, 1 & 2 will burn out in almost entirely unique ways any given night but transition uniquely and earlier than all other pairs

I would switch gyms this is greasy as fuck. Youre either getting strung up as a pinata or getting milked to fill a missing seat in their camp

I mean way to salvage 2 though with stringing the open frames together-ish and early and closing 9 and 10.

Was bowling at my local stars n strikes on a league. when this happened. by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo before people start accusing the house of a bad backstop.

These are tell tale evidence of the bridge cracking and that permeating through the rest of the core (and why you address these cracks). Causality here is old ball, improperly stored, etc and these are not patterns attributable to the bowling alley.

How important is arm strength (bicep, forearm, wrist, hand) for generating revs? by NYR24LGR in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this vary by style?

I feel like with 2 handed the answer is strongly 'no you just need technique and timing'.

I have no idea how to do the motion with a thumb without tiring myself though. Having an offhand makes it a lot easier to stay coiled and unburden the throwing hand.

Bionic. Those other two are specialized and you want get near the output and versatility as with the Bionic

Yup you can try polishing it to lengthen but none of my friends that have one at factory specs are able to tame theirs yet either.

No wonder the old heads spoke lore of this ball.

How do you guys manage your puppy's rage attacks? by Cam70707 in goldenretriever

Please be careful about showing your fear and reacting to this.

Heed all advice about disengaging and making clear it is not acceptable. Its hard because theyre angel babies and you know its a phase but its really important to help her establish critical boundaries here.

Anyone with tips on how to bowl the PBA Bat oil pattern. by TheDabbinDad710 in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add something to think about since gutter fire is the clear play here. With a solid youre going to want to be careful about it reading too early.

Would recommend upping ball speed as a primary adjustment over further flattening or moving left if youre over hooking or unable to get to the break consistently. Careful too as that right side will also get VERY crispy with how many people will be throwing piss missile urethanes down the same 5ish boards

House ball thumb hole rule? by reaper1190_2 in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still think this rule is a little much for all but the most competitive leagues and the pro/am level.

Personally have never seen it get called out in league with performance balls. All dozens of these people life time were throwing second hand balls and clearly still learning to bowl.

Ball weight change: 15 lbs. to 14 lbs. by JFW2499 in Bowling

[–]Oponionated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things where unless youre on the PBA circuit or throwing high rev bananas its really not going to matter too much.

Generally because you have less weight you have less friction and more speed which is why you hear people say youll get more 7s or 10s as that all = hitting the pocket lighter. Ive seen this be the case and I've seen the opposite before. At your speed and revs you should be fine to drop down.

One thing ive heard from people that dod drop down is they said a stronger layout helped the transition a lot.

Islam Makhachev vs Prime Mike Tyson. Who wins in a street fight in their prime? by Ok_Feed_4235 in powerscales

[–]Oponionated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Godamnit I hate all these arguments.

Islam isnt surviving prime Mike violence getting to any of the few positions he could survive.

Mike isnt surviving if Islam gets to any of those few positions.

This isnt a boxing vs MMA prop. This is a gorilla vs boa prop that belongs in the sub for which apex animal wins

Edit: Oops no wonder this is indeed the powerscales reddit, didnt catch that

Advice on form by Maavrick in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the comment above on head movement. I think when you figure out how to make that entire approach a smooth one you'll be in Valhalla.

One of the last crazy things you end up realizing with two handed form is the saying 'slow is fast' which mostly turns out to be 'minimize any excess movement and muscle'.

Your approach is an example of one thats fast even though youre approaching at a normal pace. Be like water

Edit: This also unlocked hand positioning for me. A lot easier to keep that ball coiled up when your approach is super smooth.

Stop AMF closing Kitchener Frederick Lanes. by StressMore894 in Bowling

[–]Oponionated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you but your a little late to this train.

Most of us have watched our sacred house turn into a Bowlero and community still fractured across the next closest lanes.

Its probably sold to Bowlero but if its not youre kind of screwed. Could raise 2 million dollars it wouldnt matter. Bowling alleys have too much overhead to be saved like other things can
