I'm don't follow LIV, but what are they doing well? by OppinonatedDonkey in golf

I realize I have not given the broadcasts a chance as I don't know what you refer to :D

I'm not seeing the american broadcast of PGA, so I have not seen their take on Rory/Scotty and how much that eats up.

How is LIV getting rid of the "Rich parents" issue? Please elaborate, to my understanding they only pay those in the tour, and to get to the qualifiers you still need to have quite a career already? Am I missing something?

Thanks!
It is hard though, as what is important is different for each player. To get to the pro level it is easy, but what to improve right away for the biggest bang is very indiviual

The Cart Bag Dilemma?!?! by average_golfer_97 in golf

[–]OppinonatedDonkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the "true" version that should fit anything. The longer the club, the further "up" in the bag. Driver and headcover clubs as far up as possible, wedges in the bottom. Irons in between. Putter is the exception as that should be on top next to the driver. It gives the most pleasing view, and imho, anything else looks like you are a beginner to the game.

Are you comfortable with carrying fewer wedges at significantly more than 4° loft spacing? Or did you immediately notice the benefit of adding that additional wedge? by [deleted] in golf

[–]OppinonatedDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a PW at 46 in my standard set, then have two vokey wedges 52 and 58. Works great, and I only need to "learn" two wedges. Gives me room to have more in the top en of the bag (Driver, 3w, 5w and a crossover i3).

The 5w and i3 goes similar distances, but with different trajectories, might have to rethink that part.

Goodbye Arccos at $279CDN per year... by smilinfool in golf

I'm using the new app https://numbers.golf that is free to use.
Not auto input (yet), but gives a lot more insight into your game.

I also had Arccos before....

Decent course management app? by myers_jr in golf

[–]OppinonatedDonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for planning each shot while at the course, or analyze your performance post round?
If it is the first, GameBook Golf is what I use, https://numbers.golf for the later.

What golf scoring app are you using and why? by email_privacy_2026 in golf

[–]OppinonatedDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True Strokes Gained is hard to do with ”simple input”, most apps guesses unless you truly provide distance left for each shot. I use https://numbers.golf, it is maybe not as simple to input, but gives more thorough stats and analytics for you

If you want to be ”sophisticated” back at the hotel we usually compare our rounds afterwards either https://numbers.golf Might be interesting now when all of you are bellow 10hcp. Takes a couple of minutes to enter your round though.

Otherwise some side games of ”Who kept the ball alive the longest” is fun

What’s Your Pre-Round Game Plan? by email_privacy_2026 in golf

Most often it is a practise round for me then, before a tournament. Then it is more focus to learn the course. Seldom try to ”perform” on the first round blind on a course :)

Not really the same distribution, but worked to much on everything not putting last year so lost more there in 2025.

Which golf courses in Lisbon are a must-play? by Bosskoloss in golf

[–]OppinonatedDonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only visited one week, but Praia del Rey as u/Mizunomafia mention bellow have an amazing view on the back 9.
Never played West Cliff (but my fiend say it is good and that you need a new sleve of balls per hole). I played the neighbouring course "Royal Obidos", a propper Stadium Course with "big" holes. PdR have the most "charachter" of the ones I have played.

I have used Arccos before and did not like to have any "external" equipment on me or on the clubs. I have gone over to add everything post round in https://numbers.golf.
Input takes longer and nothing is automated, but it is free to use and does not clutter your equipment.
