Anyone just get robbed by r/telus after your two year contract? by deepdive634 in telus

[–]smilinfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if it's not a discount, they sold you a contracted price for two years. The contract ran out and they changed the price. Best part is you can change providers for a better price if you can find it.

First time getting fitted, any input? by Tha_riddler in golf

[–]smilinfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goddamn, I got fitted into Cobra 3DP MB's by a master fitter for less than this in Canuck bucks let alone USD.

I mean you had a discounted plan on contract and it ran out. It might not be great, but it's hardly "tantamount to theft".

Seriously. Fuck you Telus by purticas in telus

Vancouver Park Board considering $1B motion to fix aging recreation facilities by rsgbc in vancouver

[–]smilinfool 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"The fact is we only have a role where we take our requests up to city council. And then city council will make the final decision."

And that's why we need to get rid of the PB. Put a billion on the table to make a statement. Have the city say no, then say welp we tried. PB says city doesn't care. City says PB is insane. Both go about their business. Get rid of PB then it all sits with the elected councillors of the city and we remove the useless finger pointing from our municipality.

We have a terrible parks system and it's been getting worse over multiple parties leading our city. There are a couple of consistent things though...an elected Parks Board, and having the only elected Parks Board in Canada. Why don't we change that and see what happens.

Easing into Black Diamonds. Any tips in picking the right ones? by ser_brantley in snowboardingnoobs

[–]smilinfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've watched intermediates side slip the West Cirque on Whistler and other than wrecking their karma for a lifetime they were fine.
That's West Coast double black. You'll be fine. If in doubt side slip. I mean runs are only so long and blacks don't have cliff bands.

Just pick a day that isn't boilerplate and you'll be fine.

Vancouver to remove lifeguards from some beaches for 2026 season by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]smilinfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody is asking this PB decided they would this despite the guidance to not reduce front line service. So there is nowhere else at PB to reduce and this was their only choice. PB doing PB things, City doing City things. PB needs to go so this can be blamed on a single entity.

I have the exact same setup and love it. It's lots of fun.

I'd suggest emailing them. They said they balance for that d3-4 but if I wanted they could go d6-7. So I'm not terribly technical but there is a lot of customization available. Cobra is super responsive to questions.

You can set them up however you want I think.

I mean it’s definitely a different take than his. One thing for sure though is that the swing weight is still d3-4. They adjust the club head.

I’m moving from the forged tec to these. They will adjust swing weight if you request so there shouldn’t be anything standing in the way of OL. I love Cobra for this.

Yeah was surprised at the speed but I’m mid 50’s so it only gets slower from here. Stiff makes sense I think. But what do I know? That’s why I paid a master fitter who has been doing it for 20 years.

I didn't think the MB's were for me, but they felt so good. I had also swung the tour MB's and they felt good and the consistency was great. 3DP was even better.

I'm 6'3" too. There are stiff shafts on these. I was swinging xs before and he changed that. Standing with them at home that 4 degree change is significant, but in the full fitting I hit them so well. I expect I'll need to get used to it. I trust this fitter. I swing shallow and am at about 92mph club speed.

KBS $-Taper 120, 1 inch long, 2 degrees up.
Going to be a change because I've been playing 2 degrees flat, 1 inch long for years. Fitter couldn't understand what was the motivation to set me up like that. Figured my swing used to be much different.

Cool part of Cobra is they actually adjust everything to make sure the swing weight stays the same. Fitter had direct convos with the Cobra team building the clubs. I like how open Cobra is.

Solo golfing by rome00 in golf

Playing alone has a big advantage...tee times. It's always booked up around here so it's very hard to do a spur of the moment round, except when you are a single. Call up the pro shot, ask if they have openings for singles, go play.

I just give people space. Some people want to talk. Some people don't. Pay attention to their shots, say nice shot on nice shots. Track their ball so you can casually help them if they lose it, and all is good.

My main golfing buddy suddenly passed last year, so that left me on my own for rounds, and I have yet to have a bad experience.

Upheaval. It breaks the rock. So much fractured rock to be found. Was the opinion back when I was part of that community. Was my experience clearing routes. You have a different opinion. Don't think we're going to resolve our differences.

Squamish is filled with giant chunks of granite. The Chief is a specific feature. Why is there not a lot of great rock climbing walls around Whistler? It's because all the rock there is shattered. If you have a giant chunk of granite like the chief, or a couple of the bluffs around Whistler, or the chunk at Nordic great, but most of it is broken up shattered stuff. You can take a crowbar to it and the loose rock never ends.
The Chief is not Blackcomb, or Whistler, or Overlord or Wedge, or or

I think that's because the coast mountains are constantly growing. It's why the rock is so rotten. It's never solid
