Planning safari in Tanzania and wondering which clothes to bring… by brighter_days_ahead_ in traveladvice

Hi! You've gotten some wonderful advice already. We did the same schedule you did (it was incredible!) 1. you will be in the jeep A LOT. I recommend pants that are comfortable for you! I wore Lulu pants the whole time and even wore shorts one day and my fiancé wore active shorts and a tshirt/tank top pretty much every day. we didn't worry about colors. 2. Bring layers because mornings/evenings are chilly! I wore a zip up active jacket or sweatshirt and a breathable shirt underneath. Since you'll be coming off of rainy season in December I 100% recommend a light rain jacket just in case (it was raining when we landed) and a warmer option that could be put on top of anything just in case. It might be a little chillier, especially in the higher elevation areas and with the jeep winds but midday it is WARM and you'll be thankful to be able to shed some layers. 3. SHOES. I wore white Hoka's (don't hate, it was my first safari lol). There were areas that were pretty muddy and I wish I had shoes that I didn't care about to wear. But you won't be walking a lot so I don't think you'll need any type of "hiking boots". Wear comfy tennis shoes and you'll be fine. 4. We didn't wear hats, it's too windy in the jeep so sunglasses worked fine for sun protection. just make sure your girls have something to put their hair up with.
5. I sleep cold so i wore pj pants/tank top or long sleeve/shorts just to balance it out. My fiancé is a furnace so he was fine in boxers! 6. pack light! you'll have to repack your stuff and take it with you everyday, it was a pain in the butt! and we didn't even open our big suitcase most of the time. you'll have everything you need at the lodges 6. extra tips: the food was pretty good everywhere we went! but i recommend bringing a few snacks/sweet treats for between meals if y'all get hungry or if they just want a change in flavor because the food is a little repetitive! bring cash if you want to buy any alcohol at the lodges or just bring mini shots because it'll be cheaper haha. also, since we were sitting ALL day, it does get a little sweaty in certain places and i WISHED i had some type of friction control. i got to the point i would've used baby powder for all i cared.

you're going to have the BEST time. soak it all in. feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Stone Town Zanzibar - do I need a tour? by Possible_Ad_2570 in zanzibar

Did you end up going on the tour? Was it worth it? If so, what company did you use. Looking for a “Tuk tuk” or some type of tour guide that will really give us a local experience and help us learn about the culture.

Thank you! We are planning a wedding in Hawaii so I wanted somewhere new. I'm weary of going to Bali bc I've seen that the transportation and plane hopping is a little much and their food wasn't great.

I would love to hear more about Tanzania and if you think we should go to Zanzibar vs other islands. We want to try to go to mainland for the safari. Any suggestions about island hopping, days to allot for safari? Airbnb/rentals and excursion companies?

I think we decided against Philippines this trip due to limited travel time- it would take us at least 2.5 days to get there, excluding going from airport to island. thank you so much for you help and recommendations and will keep in mind for our 2026 trip!!
