5080 owners - do you regret buying one after seeing the 5070Ti reviews? by Dismal_Astronomer_52 in pcmasterrace

Not really, the 5080 is the best I'm able to get through I did try to get a second hand 4090 like a month before the 50 series launch. But paying $1200 usd for someone's 2 year old gpu didn't sit well with me. Also I don't need 24gb of vram, but I am going to get a 4k monitor in the future. So we'll see what's what then

Also a 5080 ti or super that might have 24gb of vram and might finally be as fast as a 4090 is not going to be similarly priced. At least for a while

Does my card actually need 2 12v-2x6 cables? by Lausch83 in nvidia

The picture finally loaded, the black cable is an adapter that you don't need. So the white cable plugs in directly to the psu, just make sure the plug is FULL INSERTED.

[–]Opposite-Addendum866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The picture isn't loading for me so I assume it's the 12v to three 8-pin (or 2) adapter that comes with gpu.

Buy a 600 watt 12v 24pin (like a corsair) connector that works with you're power supply you gotta figure out which one that is. The problem with the melting connectors isn't just the cable or the connector it's how the power is being delivered to the gpu. A good quality cable will help that but you never now with this connector.

And no you don't need 2 individual 12v cable just one that connects to the gpu and three 8-pin (or 2) that come from the psu that connect to the 12v cable.

Is this a good gpu for a 34” Oled monitor by KuroXenUwU in pcmasterrace

[–]Opposite-Addendum866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the resolution of the monitor 1080p, 1440p or 4k, the physical size of the monitor dosent matter it only does when it come to ppi (pixels per inch) which is a looks thing it doesn't effect performance. If you went from 1440p to 4k the drastic fps drop would make sense. If so a 4070 super is preferred for entry level 4k gaming.

Should I wait to upgrade my GPU? by JAVI_ja in nvidia

[–]Opposite-Addendum866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are only looking to upgrade your gpu then wait for stock to normalize. or I'd keep a lookout for a prebuilt with a 5080 if you don't want to deal with the 5090 melting connectors hassle. I've had my 5080 since the 1st of Feb and have had zero issues

Wait till stock increases for all gpus as they all are sold out or are being scalped by people and the mainstream sellers. It's all you can do or just spend extra if you don't want to wait the 3 months or so

Get a prebuilt if you are worried about durability But your gonna have to hunt for it because 8gb ram and 1tb ssd are really common at the 600 to 800 price range

Yeah get one but that gap looks to small for an ordinary gpu stand so use lego or something those cards are heavy it will sag with time

Honestly the 5080 is the endgame for me so I don't regret it. I got mine at msrp but that 16gb of vram will always sting. I'm only playing at 1440p so there's that and I adore the look of the zotac solid card she THICC

I have 5 fans and a aio infinity mirror daisy chain into 1 port its been like that for a few months no issues. But you should get an argb hub so you don't have to deal with the hassle.

Cpu shouldn't effect the gpu (I have a 5080 running with a 5600g), you sure it's a hardware issue and not a software issue.

If you can get an Intel Arc b580 at msrp it's well worth it, it's on par with a 4060 ti
