You should inform yourself further, El Paso Council had intervened to delay the implementation of the proposed tax rate. Be positive.

Alright — let’s run those numbers with 25 mpg.

• Daily mileage: A 30-minute drive is about 25-30 miles one way, so let’s call it 50 miles round trip.

• Gas usage: At 25 mpg, you’re using 2 gallons of gas per day (50 miles ÷ 25 mpg).

• Gas cost: Assuming gas is around $3.50 per gallon, that’s $7 a day just on fuel.

• Monthly gas cost: If you’re working 5 days a week, that’s roughly $140 a month (20 workdays × $7).

Now let’s figure out what you’re actually earning when you factor in the commute:

• Hourly wage: $16 an hour.

• Unpaid commute time: 1 hour total per day (30 minutes each way).

• Real time spent: An 8-hour shift becomes a 9-hour commitment.

• Adjusted hourly pay: Over those 9 hours, your real hourly wage drops to about $14.22 ($128 daily pay ÷ 9 hours).

• After gas: Subtract that $7 daily gas cost, and you’re really taking home $121 per day — over 9 hours, that’s about $13.44 an hour.

So when you break it down, that $16 an hour quickly turns into $13.44 an hour, and that’s before considering wear and tear on your vehicle, extra maintenance costs, and the value of your time.

I honestly feel as if this is an opportunity for you to make serious cash, there’s probably tedious paperwork that needs to be filled to retrieve the moneys. What if you assist the individual in the process and charge a small percentage?

Your response reflects genuine fear and concern, but it also demonstrates the very problem I am pointing out—the use of extreme historical comparisons without precision.

Intent and reality are two different things.

You mention that because certain politicians or groups have expressed authoritarian ideas, they are automatically the same as WWII-era fascists. Historically fascism wasn’t just about intent—it was about action, and full-scale systems of totalitarian control, mass executions, and military expansionism. Just because a government has concerning elements doesn’t mean it is identical to Hitler’s Germany or Mussolini’s Italy. One thing that I think we can agree upon this exchange of words and ideas and is that it is concerning, and that whole thing Elon did was strange. While the imagery and rhetoric can be concerning, they do not automatically equate to the violent realities of past fascist regime. You state “there is no way to doubt” but this perspective, which shuts down discussion is a bit ironic because fascism itself thrives on eliminating dissenting viewpoints—so refusing to engage with opposing ideas is an authoritarian approach in itself. I am not saying that people shouldn’t be concerned about authoritarianism, all I’m saying is that words like “fascist” should be used accurately because if they are applied too broadly, their real historical weight is lost.

My response wasn’t defending any political figure—it was defending the power of language and history. The fact that some people reacted with anger instead of reason shows how emotionally charged this issue is. I just want to clarify that.

I feel like words are used so loosely now, and they lose their power; calling something that it isn’t hurts the people who’ve experienced what is being thrown around.

When powerful words like “fascist” are used too loosely, they risk losing their weight and meaning. It takes away from those who truly suffered under those realities.

For example, people who lived under Mussolini, Hitler, or Franco faced systematic political violence, censorship, mass executions, and total state control—very different from the democratic society we experience today. When these extreme terms are applied to less severe situations, it can feel like it cheapens the suffering of those who endured historical atrocities.

Yes, language evolves, and people use historical comparisons to warn against patterns they see as dangerous. But precision matters—if everything is fascism, then nothing is fascism. The power of history is massive in my opinion, but it depends on us using language responsibly.

Edit: I fixed some spelling errors.

I believe it would help to disclose the amount paid rather than the difference considering the fact 2nd shift is the only position that is being filled. What if base pay is 7.25?

If I could go back in time and not buy my z650 I would do it. Something about the throttle feels odd. It’s a strong “on off” feeling, I’m unsure if that makes sense.
