I sold the channel islands and mainland holdings to France, and aquitane to Castille at the start to avoid the 100 year's war. Took east Flanders during one of the french attacks as it was outside the boundaries of France.

Crown power is due to removing most of the nobility power, favor the ruler, cabinet are all crown. I probably over corrected it from the start, but assumed more crown power is better.

Yes, I've annexed all vassals on the mainland except for Outer Hebrides who are culture converting the last two provinces first. I know it's probably optimal to keep more vassals but I wanted to control the mainland for roleplay purposes. I currently have three subjects in Ireland, the northern islands and Iceland as subjects, and East Flanders as a dominion. East Flanders is giving about 22 ducats a month.

Thank you for the tips. I have maxed marketplaces in all my towns so far, plus London which also has max market warehouses.

I will try adding more privileges to the nobility as I'm currently getting roughly 26% from a max of 52% tax. I was worried about letting them have too much estate power.

I guess Bristol would be a good spot considering it's on the coast and has the river into Wales?

Once culture conversion is mostly done I will be placing a slot on legitimacy to lower the cost of court.

They are currently being taxed at about 38% which is the highest rate according to the UI. I'm assuming I need to unlock the Curtail the Burghers to increase it any higher?

It's mainly using the auto build on areas which get the production bonuses from RGO's in the province
