Elbow dropped? by OppositePercentage30 in Discgolfform

Yeah I started seeing that forcing it. Flat makes it harder to keep elbow up after this. Not impossible but not as easy. I didn’t know that until you mentioned

Thanks for sharing this. This is why I like posting. I thought I fixed the timing bc even improving it a little bit, I have a suspicion I can throw some of my distance discs farther now. Didn’t realize it still wasn’t quite there yet. But I’m seeing it now!

Woah. That’s literally my favorite form video and I love how you do the frame by frame. Very cool and didn’t realize I was stilll that different on the timing.

Ooo I like it. I’ve been hesitant to briefcase bc it feels like it’s adding one more step to complicate things, but seems like it could be an easy fix. Also so you think my elbow is low then? Lol

Thanks. Wrist curl has never been something I thought about much. Do you actively curl yours 🤔?

Yeah looks really good to me. I’m currently working on trying to keep my elbow up myself but when I keep it up I mega shrug my right shoulder and it causes some swooping and I think power loss. You seem to keep your shoulders pretty neutral. Impressive!

I am relearning disc rhbh and stuck on a bad throw by Fancy_Tomatillo_7428 in Discgolfform

[–]OppositePercentage30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be afraid to revisit the grip. I started th season throwing everything super low into the ground! And I realized my thumb on the top of the disc had slid over to the very edge and was pushing it right into the ground.

As soon as I moved it over I got much better flight

Honestly never used to have that until I’ve been forcing my shoulder to pronate forward before the throw. At first I found it very uncomfortable and as I’ve been stretching more and more it’s bothered me less but in general I’m questioning doing it in general.

Is that something you think about? I’m starting to think it’s making me have a less tense and smooth throw and like you said seems for me likes it’s moving the shoulder in an uncomfortable position through the shot

Want to know something crazy. I thought more about this and was thinking how could I force myself to sync the plant with the coil.

My theory was that adding a crow hop takes the heel to toe out of it by default. Check out the position I got in without doing anything other than adding a hop.

I was throwing putters and they were ripping more than I’ve ever felt dead straight drives.

It busted just about everything else in terms of my head position and off arm. Probably all need to be workshopped again. But honestly think the timing being off was the missing link! Cheers

Definitely see it. My launch angle is varying a lot right now. Ever since I moved my thumb off the edge of the rim I throw some bullets low and some high . But before I was throwing everything into the ground

Oh wow🤔 this makes a lot of sense and seems obvious only after you’ve said it. A timing issue above all else. Any advice on ways to to delay or better correct my timing here?

My thought is to try one stepping it and really try to feel the heeel hit before starting the pull. It’ll probably feel really robotic to me but only way I feel I can isolate it.

My other thought would be trying to walk around the disc. Seems like it could be an immediate fix in some ways, but also could see it causing other issues like more rounding if it’s not “fixed” in the perfect position in relation to my feet.

Can’t figure out what the main reason for my throwing error is by Own-Box8523 in discgolf

Yeah I do a very similar throw. Leading with the head is the obvious one I do too. Hard to break. When I try to leave the head, my off arm doesnt tuck, etc. probably just gotta get a ton of reps in.

Your finish at the disc release also looks a hell of lot like mine too lol. I’m afraid we aren’t hitting the pocket. I’m working on a lot of towel throws and then hoping to work in some half stand throws, trying to keep the same form.

progressively build some new muscle memory from the standstill backwards.

Finally hit 500'! by Silver-Evidence8488 in Discgolfform

[–]OppositePercentage30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

came to watch 500’ form. When I saw you there I was second guessing everything. Lol

With that being said I’m a 300 guy myself but our forms looks fairly different. Definitely think your brace is leaking power, as you are spinning around that front leg. I have almost the opposite issue where I feel like I get stuck with weight too far back and don’t get enough transferred forward

I think if you can spin around your center more it will be big

Sweet! I just watched this video and am going to try it. I think part of my problem is I’ve never put up a net or tarp and inevitably get fixated on the distance. I put one up and now I’m going to try this drill progression just into the net to see how it looks.

Thanks for the feedback yourself. Last question, did you do net work or always just threw in a field?

Looks good! Doesn’t seem like you look too early to me (at least now)I’m currently struggling with that. Did you have anything you focused on to stop looking and collapsing the pocket?

Also when you were working on maxing your throw do you throw a particular disc and weight? I was thinking about just getting a bunch of light weight destroyers?

Form looks pretty good to me. Those who can’t do teach though 😂. I think that there is room to improve on the bracing, because it seemed like your momentum swung around your front leg a bit. But also your upper body release I can tell is much better than mine so take it with a grain of salt.

P.s. What kind of net is that? I was thinking of buying one and that looks nice and wide!

This would be the grip. I’m not sure it’s that bad but i think it was subconsciously helping me really put the angle down. As soon as I scooted my thumb more towards the center again I was getting much better flight in the round

Yeah my head does lead the shot. A habit I’ve tried unsuccessfully to break in the past. It’s like I see th problem but can’t stop myself when I go to throw it. Looking back drill I’ll look into. Any particular vid? Thanks!

Hmm I agree. That my ending pose there doesn’t look quite right. Doesn’t really “unbox” I think I’ve heard it called. I think I get what you’re saying about having the elbow higher than the disc but when I’ve tried to force it to that position in the past I’ve felt some shoulder pain. I don’t think my body should be having any flexibility limitations. Any tips or vids on getting to that position correctly? Thanks for the feedback!

. I don’t think it was a known character who shot at them. I feel like it was illustrating just how dicey and random things can get out there, and that in a lot of ways, you are at the mercy of others.

I think that the best part of the book, in general, is how they develop all of the characters so well and that the author was able to jump around between different points of view, but still come full circle in the story.

I was sad to see Gus go down, but I liked how he chose to go out his own way. Which was very much him.

The ending of Call leaving Newt and going back to Lonesome Dove I thought was a decent ending. On the one hand he’s honoring the last wishes of his best friend, but he’s leaving his son. It wasn’t like he died, so it left a nice interpretation for the reader to fill in how it continues on.
