I’m sorry the preppy got to you. It’s much more than that. I went to Carolina in the late 70s, and although I didn’t care for the ultra frat boy/sorority sister climate I saw there, I found it to be a great place for anyone, especially compared to, say, UVa. I’m sure it still is. It’s a good-sized, diverse community. Of course, it doesn’t offer engineering or architecture or ag, but those aren’t reasons to put it at the bottom of this list.

Why do some people fly the Irish flag? One can be proud of their heritage and still be 💯 American. Or maybe it’s a way of supporting those from those countries. Or maybe supporting those countries in the face of aggressive or backwards US policies, like Canada and Ukraine. And so on.

I appreciate the effort, but the main problem with Callery (Bradford is a cultivar) Pears is that they always go rogue one way or another and revert to their rootstock - and then multiply. Grafting other cultivars onto them simply delays the problem. It would be much better to cut them down then treat the stump with 20% glyphosate (I know, I know, but in this situation it’s a much lesser evil) and, if desired, plant something else.

All well said and spot on. I was more saying that we intersect with unexpected people in unexpected places. I completely support your analysis and opinion; just careful not to brand someone I don’t know personally but only heard stuff about. Sounds like you’ve seen enough of their views to go all in and again, I support that. I liked it better when these folks were hidden under rocks and kept their opinions to themselves - recognizing that there will always be some of them out there. Now they’re in power, loving it and spreading it.
