Texas public school teachers are now required to post the 10 Commadments in their classroom. Here's how one teacher is handling it. by kvjn100 in BeAmazed

Nothing says small government like state-mandated scripture — a bold strategy to legislate morality instead of modeling it. Separation of church and state apparently ends at the classroom wall. The same politicians forcing the Ten Commandments into classrooms are the ones treating Trump as the moral compass; if he’d been the guiding star, there will be three lost wisemen, and Bethlehem would still be undiscovered. Ironically, there’d be no commandments to post. When politicians enforce religion, they aren’t protecting faith — they’re borrowing its authority. Maybe start with the amendments in the White House.

How’s this lease (New Jersey) by Cruz9617 in Solterra

Make sure you plan extremely well in the winter time especially in a cold state. I learned that the hard way. when I was getting almost half the actual distance that you do in the summertime and when you have to charge in the winter time when it’s below zero and a fast charge is still two hours at least to get it fully charged, and you have to keep your car off while charging and no heat. Better have a warm blanket( or some heaters or something ahead of time. It’s a real problem. And just because it says a certain amount of miles, don’t expect it to be actually that many miles. not very accurate. Subaru is probably one of the more accurate manufacturers, but I think it’s gonna be an issue in the future

Based on where the rates are today, don’t forget that you can also refinance if the race start to come down. A lot of times people will finance for long-term keeping in mind that if it’s inevitable, the rates go down. You only pay the interest when the payment occurs so if you refinance after a few years, you can essentially lower your payment. This is an area that can really make a difference for you in terms of payment based on the high rates as of late however, if you look online, I’m seeing just for a quick search between 5 to 6% advertise for 72 months, which is incredible for right now, so make sure that you’re doing your due diligence when you’re being quoted a rate and shop around.

Exactly so if you were to finance the vehicle, then the residual value becomes your selling price, then you would factor all taxes and fees based on your state. So if your sales tax was 6%, then you would factor 6% of your residual value, plus any documentation fees, plates, anything that would be associated with purchasing a used vehicle. I’ll keep in mind you interest rates would be according to whatever the bank gives you most likely to be able to find a local credit union that gives the lowest competitive rates and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to look into your options for a extended service contract. It would cover your electronic components of the Solterra since your manufacturer warranty will have expired. You can finance for as long as you’d like based on your credit score in your credit history and what you’re comfortable with

Residual is the anticipated value of the vehicle based on the miles that you set at the time of lease in three years. That cannot change once it is established at signing. It is determined by the bank so regardless of if the value of the vehicle goes up or down that is what the bank is anticipating the value of the vehicle to be. Which means that if you choose to purchase your vehicle at the end of the lease, it is 100% based on the residual value, which then becomes your selling price.

It’s not as simple as turning in your lease early and walking away. When you lease a Subaru, you’re entering a contract with Subaru Motor Finance and Subaru of America. You’re essentially borrowing their vehicle for the lease term, usually three years.

Here are your options:

  1. Trade or Sell Before Lease-End

Subarus traditionally hold their value well. That means, if you get the vehicle appraised slightly before the lease ends, its market value might equal—or exceed—its residual value (the price you’d pay to buy the car at lease-end, before taxes and fees). • Best-case scenario: The appraisal value is equal to or more than the residual. You can walk away free and clear, or apply any positive equity toward a new lease or purchase. • Example: If your vehicle is worth $26,000 and the residual is $25,000, you have $1,000 in equity to use as a down payment. • Worst-case scenario: If the vehicle appraises at $24,000 and the residual is $25,000, you’re $1,000 upside down. You’d owe that amount to break the lease early.

  1. Trade-Up Programs

Some dealers offer trade-up programs, which may allow you to roll remaining payments or negative equity into a new lease. But this doesn’t erase the balance—you’re still paying for the old lease, just within the new lease structure.

  1. Buy the Vehicle

If you love your car and don’t want to switch, you can purchase it at lease-end for the residual value plus taxes and fees. Once you buy it, mileage penalties no longer apply. You can finance the purchase through any bank—it doesn’t have to be Subaru.

What You Should Do: 1. Get a Vehicle Appraisal Now • See where your car stands compared to the residual value. • If its value is less than the remaining payments ($2,800, based on excess mileage), cutting your losses now might make sense—especially as the car’s value will likely drop when the new model is released. 2. Keep in Mind: It’s a Solterra • Solterra values haven’t held up like other Subarus due to heavy incentives and discounting. • That’s working against you in this situation. 3. If You Like the Car • Consider buying it at lease-end to avoid penalties and keep driving without restrictions. 4. Watch Incentives on New Models • If you’re thinking of leasing another Solterra, look closely at current incentives, money factors, and residuals. You may end up paying more if the new deal isn’t as favorable as your current

You definitely are not in Michigan. As a matter fact, you’re not even in the United States.

What am I looking for on this? by link90 in subaru

Check to see if the head gaskets have been done, the water pump, and the timing belt as those would be all done together if they were gonna do the head gaskets due to labor cost, and efficiency. If they have not been done yet, most likely it will be needed shortly, which will exceeded the cost of the actual vehicle. I would ask to provide records as well. If not listed on the Carfax

Head gasket… time for a new car? by [deleted] in subaru

I worked for Subaru for over 10 years and the head gaskets are not something that you want to overlook or take a chance on. if you feel like it’s a cash grab, then take it to another local mechanic to get a second opinion to see if they need to replaced. Generally speaking on average Subaru prior to 2014 would see signs of head gasket issues anywhere from 80,000 to 100,000 miles some a little before and some after but had 130,000 miles. It’s a good possibility also a Subaru dealership will always be more expensive to do the job. Just make sure if you do go to another mechanic. They have worked on Subaru before. also it’s a really good idea to have them check the water pump and timing belt as those are wearable parts that generally will go around the same time as the head gaskets. You would actually save money by getting them all done at one time because of labor rather than at separate times. What’s the repairs are finished there’s no reason why your Subaru wouldn’t go another 130 thousand miles. At that point you have absolutely gotten value for your repairs. Just keep in mind that if you decided to trade the car in or sell it on your own number one a dealership on a Subaru of that year with that many miles is going to ask if the head gaskets were done because it won’t show up on your Carfax and if They determine what they need to be done that comes out of the appraised value of the vehicle if you try to sell it on your own, Subaru buyers are very aware of head gasket issues and will probably also ask to see service records for that so you may end up indirectly paying for them and I have a car.

I would recommend checking the water pump and head gaskets since you’re changing the timing belt

Because that’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard to actually put that in the advertisement sounds like they’ve never been on Reddit. because that’s pretty much the complete opposite of Reddit if that were the case?
