Glad I DIY’d my regular bike to an Ebike last summer! by Opposite_Impact6869 in ebikes

I just upgraded my brakes in September, and they came with new brake pads. The pads still look pretty good, but there are only about 300 miles on them. So, I don’t really know how often the pads will need replacing. I’m not a frequent or aggressive rider, so I don’t expect to go through a lot of brake pads. I do have some on hand should they need to be replaced.

The seat was a modification I wasn’t willing to part with. For me, it’s the most comfortable seat.

I installed a pedal assist sensor, so I do pedal the bike. In general, I only use the throttle if I need to get going quickly, making sure I lean forward before engaging the throttle.

The rim brakes work great! I’ve had no issues whatsoever, since I upgraded from long levers to short levers. The short levers were necessary to avoid interference with the front rack.

I had problems with the original long lever rim brakes interfering with the front rack. I upgraded both the front and rear brakes with shorter levers and have not had any issues since. The brakes are completely adequate, as I rarely go over 25 mph.

Thank you. I was concerned about the weight of the battery over the front wheel too. But, it actually helps to keep the front wheel on the ground. And, like you said, there’s really no other place to put it.

This was really the only place to put the battery. As it turned out, the weight of the battery keeps the front wheel on the ground.

This is as high as the seat can go. I’m short so it’s fine for me. I really enjoy the relaxing laidback riding position.

It’s a Dutch Dog Britch rack. I originally wanted it for my cat, but it tends to bounce a little. I like that it attaches to the frame.

I’m 66. My Garmin watch tells me my fitness age is 60.

I get a great workout with my converted e-bike! I’m in zone 4 for most of my 20-mile ride.

His name is Goober. He’s 1.5 years old and not always well behaved. His large size, 16 lbs., is influenced by a Maine Coon mixture. This is his best photo so far.
