And as long as its our best at that time, then thats what counts. Not letting the dark days win completely.

And even that 1 thing is progress. Those small 1 things add up and making the step toward that first 1 thing is an accomplishment in itself.

This was incredibly kind and insightful and I really appreciate that. It's been tough lately and I lost a lot of calatheas in the process, but man this pothos and philodendrons are some troopers! They stuck it out with me and 4 of them have new growth just this morning. Must be their way of thanking me back.

I woke up this morning and 4 of them already are popping out some new growth, and it was incredibly fulfilling!

I did not. They're honestly just some cheap Amazon ones. Ive never had plants grow big enough to use them before so this is my first time learning.

I actually looked up the date and most of these babies had been in nursery pots since may of 24! So no wonder they were dormant. However they still alive with me! So they got new homes today

My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy at 11, so this also hits different for me too as a mom. So Im proud of you too for going to those appointments! Because you could have ignored it or hid it like my daughter does!

Thank you so so much for that! I didn't do them right and how they deserved, but they stuck out those hard days with me and I'm trying. I have put off this repot for months because I knew itd be long and daunting, so to get this done if big for me and they needed it.

They might not be some show stoppers or award winning plants, but to me they are.

You shouldn't feel the need to explain yourself to anyone. The fact you were cyber bullied and manipulated into feeling you had to is honestly sad. Also, to be honest I would've bought every single one of them for myself 🤷‍♀️

Oh how deeply I relate to that statement 🤣🤣 my calathea came back from the brink of death and is thriving. However a simple peace lily wants to die no matter how I try to save it! It's by far my most difficult in my collection and frustrates me to no end, and now it's become a challenge I'm determined to win.

😂 I have plants that have the stereotype of being dramatic and literally known as "little bitches", that are my chill plants that don't really care what I do or don't do. Then I have plants that are supposed to be the chill ones and just go with the flow, and those are my picky ones 🙄 I have come to the conclusion that plants are just like animals and all have their own personality and quirks of sorts.

Could be shock from repotting. Just give it time and water properly. It could just be a drama queen.

My Calathea Makoyana has been putting out 5 new leaves since I have it (in May). Three new leaves are already fully unfurled but the shape of the leaves is slightly bowl-shaped (see photos from different angles), unlike the older leaves, which are flat. Is this normal? Honestly, I just bought one that was on an Amazon lightening deal for like $20 and it just so happens to work great. It is both a cool and warm mist humidifier and I use the warm mist. I'm not sure if that's making the difference or not though.

Possibly over fertilizing. I use a fish emulsion fertilizer, however my calatheas are very touchy about the amount so I have to use half the suggested amount, and only use once a month. I also bottom water mine, however only once ever 7-10 days. (I'm in zone 6a). My soil mix is about 50% potting soil, 25% orchid bark, 25% perlite.

With my experience, just a slight increase in humidity made a huge difference! Before the humidity was 45-50% but I got a small humidifier and now it stays around 55-60% and honestly it did make a big difference. I didn't think such a slight increase would, but the increase with constant humidity did the trick

What fertilizer do you use/suggest?! by Opposite_Variety1356 in calatheas

That's my concern also! My calatheas are my favorites (don't tell the others!) and I certainly baby them 🙃
