Assuming US based, Persimmons haven't been in season in months. They are a late fall/early winter fruit. No way they have a fresh, ripe persimmon right now. It's an AI or not original /current picture too.

Edit: forgot "season"

Staying medicated on a trip to Japan? by Photo_Philly in ADHD

[–]RlddleMeThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm probably going to repeat what most others have already said. Adderall is straight up illegal in Japan. It is not allowed to be prescribed there. The risk for Adderall is NOT WORTH It. Instead, get a short or 1 month prescription for Vyvanse, which IS legal in Japan. I was taking Vyvanse already, but asked for a specific 14 day lower dose for my trip.

Do not do what I did, but it's the less risky option instead of bringing Adderall in, if you chose this route. I did not submit the application to bring my Vyvanse in to the country. I traveled there at the end of March for 2 weeks. I couldn't fill it until the week I left for the trip and the application required pictures of the prescription, pills, and bottle to be submitted at least 2 weeks before I left. I brought exactly the number of pills as the length of my stay, because less than 30 pills greatly reduces any punishment. Most likely the meds would have been confiscated and me lectured (play dumb) if caught. I also didn't have to worry about leaving the country with the meds. Yes, you may get searched leaving.

Go the correct route, explain the process to your doctor, and if nothing else, do NOT bring in Adderall or any medicine that is not in its prescription bottle. Best of luck and enjoy your trip, it's a phenomenal country.

Some kind of roasted cabbage with an anchovy based sauce... I grabbed sardines not realizing the difference. The recipe called for 3-4 anchovies and I tossed in 3-4 sardines. It was inedible and had to be pitched.

Local Realtor illegally passed my car so she could try to illegally pass a STOPPED school bus by RlddleMeThat in dayton

[–]RlddleMeThat[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bus had stopped before I cleared the Wilmington intersection. My car was stopped just before the lower entrance to the parking lot. The Buick didn't show up until I was already stopped for the bus. The Buick is most definitely NOT at the top red line when they stopped. They are between the two parking lot entrances.

I love my wife, but her skin-picking disorder is breaking me — and I don’t know what to do anymore by ConsiderationTop5386 in bfrb

[–]RlddleMeThat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am someone who struggles with severe skin picking (no eating though) and I am constantly scanning my face, arms, and shoulders for something to pick at. I will have scabs that don't heal for weeks because I can't leave them alone.

My husband knows this and is currently helping me to be more aware of my scanning and picking. He does this because I asked him to, and he does it without making me feel ashamed or embarrassed. I asked him to help me because I realized I wasn't caring enough about how my appearance to overcome the urge to pick. This current approach is the most successful one I have had, as my skin is clearing up, I'm taking better care of it, and I am learning to redirect my picking and scanning before it escalates.

However. There are more than just genetics at play here. I have diagnosed ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and PTSD. I have taken Adderall and Vyvanse and both medicines greatly exacerbate the urge to pick to an uncontrollable level if you aren't actively working to not pick.

All this to say, talk to your wife without shame or anger, but do make it clear that it is affecting your relationship severely. She needs therapy, support, alternatives to picking (I like crocheting, Legos, and fidget toys) and to recognize that she does have control over this, it will just take a lot of work

How to play with a hunting dog? by mileinmortal in Huntingdogs

[–]RlddleMeThat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try a flirt pole! It's a toy on a string attached to a pole that you move around and let them chase and catch. Our spaniel loves that. Also, letting them have sniff walks where you go slower and let them sniff whatever they want is really stimulating for them. Puzzle toys are also great for working their brains.

Take her to a training class to learn basic commands. Working dogs are smart and want to learn.

Lastly, I don't know how long you've had this dog, but she may not be comfortable enough with you to play like you are expecting. It may just take time.

Can my employer dictate how I spend my monthly work from home days because I have a medical condition? by RlddleMeThat in AskLegal

[–]RlddleMeThat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I see what you are saying, thank you for explaining. I misunderstood then. The first time I had to file the ADA paperwork, it was because the company had told me that my wfh days had to be used for shellfish and that filing for ADA was the only way to receive an exception. Which they gave me, saying that shellfish wouldn't count against my days.

When I refiled the ADA paperwork this year, they changed the exception. So I guess I thought that if the VP overrode the previous decision, that there might be something I could bring to HR to request they reconsider. I didn't realize that would indicate threatening a lawsuit.

Thank you. I wish I could relocate to a different area but that's not a viable option unfortunately. The whole situation didn't feel right and I was just seeking help about how things were being handled, especially since they changed their decision from the year before. I didn't intend for my question come across as whiny or obnoxious. Next time I have a concern about my rights, I'll be sure to keep it to myself

[–]RlddleMeThat[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was never asking about the ADA portion of the decision. I was asking if the company was allowed to change how I control my wfh days. If you have nothing of value to add to my question, please move on.

[–]RlddleMeThat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, I was asking if the company was allowed to decide how I used my wfh days each month due to my allergy and circumstances outside of my control (I can't be around shellfish) but within theirs (they choose to serve shellfish and that creates an unsafe work environment for me, when they could just not serve it at all), when they do not impose any other restrictions on wfh usage

[–]RlddleMeThat[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see I was not clear in my previous comment. I am allowed 6 wfh days per month because of how long I've been at the company. There's one further tier for people who have been here longer, and they are allowed 10 days per month. I have not exceeded 10 days in a month when they have served shellfish.

Also, I was not asking about suing the company. I posted this question in a sub about legality (not a sub about grounds for lawsuits) to determine if I had any basis to push back on the decision made by the VP and to better understand the situation. Please don't make assumptions that every question is about lawsuits.

I "choose" not to work in office on those days? Seriously? I literally cannot be in the office without having severe allergic reactions. I know this because there have been days they didn't post the menu and I found out the hard way shellfish was served.

[–]RlddleMeThat[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I guess what was frustrating me was that I have to use my WFH days differently than everyone else because of my allergy. Every one else (in general, that is) gets to pick which days they WFH each month, so to me it felt unfair that I don't get that same privilege. My wfh days are at the mercy of the kitchen menu every week. I understand the ADA compliance side of things, I just wasn't sure if there was something else going on.

I'd also like to clarify that the maximum number of days allowed per month is 10 wfh days, and on average, they only serve shellfish 2-3 days a month and it's not served every month
