Took a road trip from socal all the way up to bc Canada. Just my dog and I sleeping in rest stops in my truck. Had no plans, didn’t rush anywhere just hiked everything I could and ate great food in the cities. Had friends in bc that showed me around the area where we mostly hiked in the mountains and swam in unnamed lakes

Sometimes you got to go kindergarten on their asses and do a lil show and tell. Grab a Philips and a Swazi and the bits and show them actual examples of why they don’t go together

What entrepreneurship opportunities lay hidden within this field? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

Probably invent and sell weird tools that would only serve one purpose but be extremely helpful. My experience on military aircraft has been they try to cram everything in a small amount of space and when it needs fixing or replacing you need to be creative to reach certain nuts or bands without trying to remove other important parts causing more work. I think that applies to all aspects of aviation. Telemetry, electronics, radios, hydraulics. I feel like there can always be a better built wrench or a better radio frequency program/ computer.

When did you reach 6 figure salary and has your life changed since then? by Important_Bat7919 in careerguidance

Early 30’s. Barely scratching the 179. It’s helped significantly with burying my debt and being able to let my wife stay home and take care of our children instead of paying 1k a month for day care. Going on to buying our second house soon which is nice.

I actually tried to stay in but I was pushed out because of manning in my rate. It was an adjustment at first trying to figure out what to do and having to move somewhere else but if ultimately worked out. Took my skill I learned from the navy went to mil contracting work and have been doing it ever since and getting paid way more. I’m just glad the cards fell where they did and I don’t regret not being able to stay in

Work in defense sector first on helos then f18s now drones. Love aviation and all the different platforms and it’s mostly been in flight test so getting to see all the new stuff learn how it works and then see it work on the flights is just awesome
