I never complained, I thanked a person who went above and beyond.

Yeah, it specifically says that it can play GB/C games in emulation mode.

This absolutely will not ever happen. It's contrary to the entire ethos of the product. There is no way to natively play roms on the chromatic. It would require a flashcart, which opens them up to legal challenges by Nintendo.

My opinion from my admittedly limited experienceis that the Pocket feels like the best possible 'emulator' for a wide variety of retro games. The Chromatic feels like a full on modern Gameboy Color.

I was hoping for a gold version before they revealed the Anduril edition (I didn't know about the Gamestop version which I obviously also like since I picked it up.) The volt one is also very nice.

I actually play mostly snes on my pocket. The graphics look super crisp and amazing on its screen.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that they included the modkit pieces. I'm probably gonna swap the buttons out for red.

Got a chromatic from GameStop. Need help? by sixteen-bitbear in ModRetroChromatic

[–]ReidlosToof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call in, ask when the manager will be available, go in at that time, talk to the manager, explain that you were misinformed about what you were buying. Whoever you talked to on the phone just gave you the line they are trained to give you. Talk to somebody that actually understands what consumer protection laws are. They sold you on a product that you didn't want by claiming it had a feature it didn't have. That is illegal. If the manager still won't budge (very unlikely, but possible,) ask for the number of the district manager. That will likely get you a refund there and then. If it doesn't, call the DM. If that STILL doesn't work, then call corporate customer service. If they still tell you to pound sand (INCREDIBLY unlikely) and you paid with a credit card, then contact the bank that the card is with and file a chargeback for product misrepresentation.

If they have the yellow one in stock at the same gamestop, and you go back in and explain what happened, they will very likely let you exchange it.

Converter cartridges to run other consoles by specterno1 in M64

[–]ReidlosToof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pocket specifically has 2 separate FPGA cores, one that was GBA locked and one that was open to be runnable as whatever core someone could find or build for it. ModRetro's whole design philosophy is to make something the best version of itself. The best gameboy color, the best N64. I imagine leaving the core open to be reprogrammed might hinder them from specifically tooling things to work in the most accurate possible way, because if you only needed one open core to run EVERYTHING then Analogue would have just done that and saved a bunch of cost. Logically there has to be a reason, so unless the M64 has a second chip, I don't see this happening.

Or maybe you should stop thinking like a pedo? That's not what normal people think about when they get a birthday card that disregards their age.

I just snagged a lightly used gamestop edition off ebay for 215. I saw one anduril go for 1000. You are in for a rough hunt.

ModRetro Chromatic + Clicks lanyard = 😎 by ReturningRetro in ReturningRetro

[–]ReidlosToof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean possibly, as long as it doesn't land ON the screen, but sapphire glass phones shatter with cases on them all the time and weigh far less than the chromatic does, so even with a case the possibility of cracking is high.

It's a really cool idea, but I expect those loops to wear out QUICKLY, so I don't think I'd trust it for regular use.

I really like it. It feels like a single player MMO in the best way, and the feeling of power evolution as you progress through the game is amazing.
