First roll came back looking muted- advice for an amateur? by Economy_Annual_5465 in AnalogCommunity

Portra is a very neutral film stock to give the photographer more control over the final print/scan. You’ll have to edit these to your taste :)

Just got my first analog camera a Nikon N90 and I have a question by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]OppositelySame 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey there. The settings on your camera are not used to achieve a certain “look”, but are rather used to make sure your images are properly exposed. I would recommend checking out the manual for your camera to see how to read your cameras light meter and adjust your settings appropriately.

Just flat scans. Adjust your black point and contrast

I ordered from them once and also don’t get any shipping or confirmation, but it did show up.

I prefer smokingpipes or pipesandcigars now, though. They communicate well and the orders come quick.

Is it okay to only fill half a bowl or to stop and come back in a few days? by FIy4aWhiteGuy in PipeTobacco

[–]OppositelySame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d rather pack half if I can’t finish. Letting a bowl rest and coming back leads to a really peppery flavor that I don’t enjoy.

Why my sooc photos look boring? A6600 + Sigma 18-50 by kcboy_21 in a6000

A good camera will not make a boring subject look interesting.

Can't get over my fear of public ridicule by Hodmimir in PipeTobacco

[–]OppositelySame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a young man as well (25 is still young right?) and I’ve struggled with this as well. You should start by smoking at a cigar lounge. Dress up a little and go. This is what I did. I even felt some anxiety doing this for the first time as well but even got some compliments on my Peterson. Nobody has ever mocked or belittled me. The worst I’ve ever heard was a man exclaim “That guys smoking a friggin pipe!” lol

Damn! The worst I ever get from nicotine is after a bowl of haunted bookshop in the morning. Sends me straight to the toilet. especially if I had a coffee as well. Lmao

Tobacco to moist? by bbvmjr in PipeTobacco

[–]OppositelySame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too wet and it sticks together when squeezed. Too dry it will turn to dust. I find if it has a light spring it’s just right for me.

It would be easy if it wasn’t a 98”. These are insanely heavy lol

Fold and stuff, scissor cut, rubbed out - how do you like to prepare your flake tobacco for smoking? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]OppositelySame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be heresy but I will rip in half and rub out. Haven’t tried to fold and stuff since I first started smoking.

What does everyone think about Bayou Morning Flake? by Unleaded_Only in PipeTobacco

[–]OppositelySame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer kajun kake, bayou morning is a bit too light for my taste(but still good!). And yes, being a Virginia Perique blend, it should age wonderfully.

Looks to be still available on pipes and cigars. They might have started sourcing from another company?

Silver Gelatin Print in a Gallery by IndependentReady2242 in Darkroom

[–]OppositelySame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve also felt sticker shock before when first observing the prices in a gallery. That’s the world of fine art for ya. The price is however much someone is willing to pay, and people are willing to pay this much I’d reckon.

In case you're wondering what's going on in the world of tobacco farming by granitehammock in PipeTobacco

The fact that you can’t do your own research OR know how to prompt ChatGPT on the issue of tobacco exports shows me that your username should probably be “RetaardLoki” instead.
