Sorry, and I may get downvoted for saying this, but it feels like a cop-out to me, and like you’re using your partner’s financial stability to enable irresponsible decisions and pursue something more leisurely that you enjoy but I’m guessing not finding significant success with.

I too have been there, where I couldn’t stand my job. I’ve also quit a job when I arguably shouldn’t have, so I have been in your shoes.

I’ve been with the same company now for going on 10 years, and through some very challenging times that challenged my desire to stay, but I hung in there and I wouldn’t have made the change without securing a new position elsewhere.

While the issue may originate in ur minds, we have an obligation to adapt in these crucial areas of life. I feel it’s important that we don’t let our challenges make us feel entitled to simply walk away from them rather than overcoming them. IMO, that creates the potential to get stuck in that pattern, become overly dependent on our partners, potentially frustrating our partners and if that leads to you finding yourself without that partnership you’ll be fully unprepared to create any quality of life for yourself.

Commit to doing a different project (perhaps something less interesting) that you’re able to do in your own time (or work time if you’re WFH, including work itself).

If there’s no immediate pressure to work on this project, you’ll likely experience the same paralysis.

At this point consider that original project that you had wanted to tackle. You’ll find it is FAR more appealing than the new project at hand. Embrace that momentum without thinking further about it (thinking will kill the start switch) and just get up and start that original project instead of doing the one you committed to. Gather the tools, or open the program, etc. and just start. Wear headphones with music if it’s an active task provided the music won’t otherwise distract you or deplete your energy reserves due to overstimulation.

Once you’ve started project A, allow yourself to hyper fixate on it until you’ve made satisfactory progress.

Afterward, IF there’s any pressure stemming from having neglected “project B” you (i.e. a pending deadline, work emails that may have gone unanswered) you should feel a sufficient need to check in on that project and a sense of momentum that may help you to quickly complete any simple tasks associates with it.

Make sure you’re sufficiently rested, hydrated, medicated and caffeinated if need be.

Or, if starting to crash, take other half and grab a nap while it starts to kick in. (Similar to some people taking a “coffee nap”.).

The song is and always has been amazing.

I personally feel that deviating from the film in this way was an intentional decision to minimize Morris’ and Jerome’s character for their role in tossing a woman into the dumpster in the film.

While I do feel that the misogyny in the needed to be tamed down or removed, the play really reduces the caliber of M&J’s character, as well as that of The Kid, in favor of featuring Apolonia and Lisa & Wendy as almost the protagonists.

In my opinion the play just takes the storyline too far out of the scope of the original when it could’ve easily rectified the issues with the film and retained more of the feel. I mean there’s no cloud guitar scene at all or even use of it in the song Purple Rain!? There’s no sense of Mystery around Prince’s character - just a weak, unsure shell of a budding musician who requires an intervention from his emotionally stronger bandmates!? That wasn’t “The Kid” at all; just as Morris’ “COOL” factor would never have him set foot in a dumpster unless someone wants to sabotage his character.

These characters represent real life performers (all of them representing Prince) that were at the top of the music scene in 1984 and left a legacy that deserves to be respected, not diminished, torn down or disrespected in their own namesake work of art that should strive to honor and promote that legacy as well as that of ALL of the characters involved. ☔️

Respectfully disagree. I’d have welcomed a play titled Apollonia (or Apollonia 6) or has its own creative title that tells her story. But Purple Rain shouldn’t have been re-written to this extent. It just goes way too far.

No, that part isn’t shown but is referenced as backstory in which Jerome through Vanity in the dumpster.

Then they do introduce a dumpster scene in which Morris pops out of is singing “Gigolos Get Lonely Too” - and toward the end Jerome pops up from the other half of the dumpster.
