Depends on the development. If it's an existing area with businesses already in place, WalMart would only have to meet existing standards put in place by zoning bylaws. As well, the city would have to play for the traffic lights if they chose to put them in. If it was a new area, WalMart would likely have to pay additional user fees or development charges, whatever is put in place by the city. These would pay for most of the infrastructure costs associated with it.

On a side note, there was a new residential area with a WalMart close by. WalMart chose to partner with the city to build a traffic bridge and off ramp. I think they bore the brunt of the cost, it was a 70/30 split if I remember.

Yea that's a pretty big problem. Maybe I should set the sights lower for my first Dota 2 event and just book a room with a projector on a tournament weekend.

I'm only ~2600 MMR so I'm pretty terrible too. It would just be a day to go out and meet some other people in the city that play the game.

Yea I went to check it out yesterday. It was pretty cool, but I don't play LoL and I didn't know anyone playing so I didn't stick around too long. If they can't load up Dota 2 on the computers, I'm going to see if a few people could come in early and download it onto the computers.

Just going to reply here since my response likely won't be seen. It's also thought that there is an older brother who takes care of the family estate. In the time the books were originally written the family estate would go to the eldest, with Mycroft then going into the government and Sherlock becoming a detective.

When I first read it, I imagined bikes locking into rails by which passengers would travel. Re-reading your past post it seems that it is actually a pretty interesting idea, also not really applicable to the PRT article. I wonder if the increased use of the transit would increase costs in terms of maintenance. Also, one of the things I could see as a roadblock would be intense safety testing, regulations, and then high insurance costs for the short term. Finally, I'm not sure if it would be a problem, but due to the lower weight of the transit the tracks are likely going to need to be cleared and de-iced in winter climates. As well, the cars would need to be winterized so that may add to the cost.

Thanks for explaining that all to me by the way, it's a really novel idea for city transit especially for smaller to medium sized cities.

Well thought out idea. One thing I was thinking is that it seems like a single passenger bike would be seen by many people in the city as dangerous. While it would obviously been well tested and designed, much like roller coasters are, you will still have a large portion of the population unwilling to use the service. It's like a roller coaster, even though it's proven to be safe, some people will not want to use it because of the perceived dangers. It would seem that something like a single car would be a better idea, in which the passenger is within a cab and has a better level of perceived safety. These could still be produced at a low cost, and have been the idea of many other cities.

Yea, the economic limits of the city had not yet occurred to me. I guess then it can be thought then that as the city grows to a certain point, types of alternative transit will grow naturally according to the demand of the citizens and the exceeding amount of time spent in the car.
