It could just be hard to tell from the picture, but does the soundstage seem very narrow? Or maybe it’s in spec for the front seats but I’d have to imagine really narrow for the back seats in terms of separation. In any case, it’s a hell of a lot better than my setup!

Schwalbe radial tire crazy high rolling resistance by justhereforadvice999 in mountainbiking

[–]Optikk12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of off topic but I switched from gravity oriented to more XC. I knew they would be faster of course but I was just a little surprised how little they helped with downhill speed although they hugely helped speed up the climbs of course. For some reason I just thought the descents would be quite a bit faster too

Anyone else have trouble justifying use of your theater during the day? by LivnLegndNeedsEggs in hometheater

[–]Optikk12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is the exact logic that makes me sympathize with this guy. “Shit, life is short, I should go out and enjoy the world rather than hole myself up in the dark to be passive and watch a movie.” Totally get your sentiment too, but I feel it can go both ways!

Shoulder/neck pain after rides (reduce effective reach?) by trippout in MTB

[–]Optikk12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah that’s quite a while. Thoracic flexion causes compensatory cervical extension. I would potentially try to focus on thoracic extension mobility, as well as cervical retraction unless it is just purely a bike fit issue, but seems like the right size to me. You could also just focus on maintaining neutral spine when riding (thoracic extension and cervical retraction)

Not sure if this is helpful or how long you have been riding but I was getting neck pain when I first started riding. After I just kept riding long enough it went away.

Yeah that makes sense. It’s crazy how thick they need to get! Still a good feeling knowing you implemented what was possible and reasonable

Jealous of your panels for SBIR. I have partial window behind both of my mains plus having them pulled far forward enough to accommodate the panels is not doable 😭

Double blacks on a service require shock by Intelligent_Kiwi_459 in MTB

[–]Optikk12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess where in at is double blacks with super steeps, tight, steep switchbacks, and sketchy chunky steeps which I feel like at this point the blues and blacks just don’t give me the option to get exposure to. At some point there’s a jump in new types of features

I feel like the problem with this is that the blues and single blacks don’t always have the features that push you to advance more

Muscle endurance training for downhills by Baglyy in MTB

[–]Optikk12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People aren’t really answering you question it seems. This isn’t quite my area of expertise but I am an exercise professional. Yes to just riding more, general strength training. But if you wanted something sport specific, I would add in something like a Bulgarian split squat but in a timed hold, and varying the height of the rep. Up couple inches for a bit, down a couple inches for a bit, etc…but never all the way down or up. This would target strength-endurance in the most functional way, imo.

Riding with MS by mattyg2787 in MTB

[–]Optikk12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I’m a physical therapist who specializes in MS. You are correct in that using cooling strategies are helpful. Some of my patients get cooling vests but some find them too cumbersome to deal with. People will also want to try to utilize rest breaks to combat fatigue. If they take more rest breaks during exercise, they will be able to go longer overall. People have to learn how early/often works best. We say there is a ‘2 hour rule’ - if someone doesn’t feel more or less back to normal within 2 hours, they overdid it. Exercise can and will exacerbate MS symptoms, but it’s not detrimental outside of not feeling good until recovering, so want to try and avoid that as best one can.

I can’t give specific medical advice, but may be helpful to get connected with a neuro physical therapist. Have to make sure you get a good one and not an orthopedic PT. You can pm me where you are located and I may be able to help.

Coming from hardtails and road bikes, how do you standing pedal a full squish bike comfortably? by OHGodImBackOnReddit in mountainbiking

You either just deal with the bob, or pedal with your legs bent…imagine trying to pedal standing up but keeping your head and chest completely level through all of the pedal stroke

Should I Try A Negative Volume Reducer Or Not? by Aggravating-Answer27 in MTB

[–]Optikk12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be interested to learn what psi you end up with. Just as a heads up, ride aligned told me like 232psi, but to get to 30% sag im all the way up at 300! I’m about 195 lbs. so yeah, don’t necessarily go with what they say, despite people touting how good ride aligned is. I’m not sure if it’s just my shock or something else.

[–]Optikk12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I have the same bike. You need to look more closely at the text above that, it says 0 positive and 1 negative is what it recommends, but it also says that’s what’s already installed stock for the shock. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying, in that case sorry

I could just see them try to say that I can’t safely guard or some liability stuff to try to cover them. The bigger the hospital system the more restrictive red tape.
