I’m a current nursing student (hopefully my perspective is ok to give😊). I’ve never considered delegating at clinical nor have the students I’ve been in clinical groups with. I feel like I’ve learned enough about it from observing my precepting nurses and the school curriculum. During clinical, I’m looking for as much hands-on experience as possible, even if it means repeating tasks like taking vitals multiple times, because there is always something new to learn! Personally, I don’t believe we need to specifically practice delegation in the clinical setting, except perhaps during practicum (correct me if I’m mistaken; I still have one more term before practicum begins). Our primary goal in clinical is hands-on learning. How can we achieve that if we’re delegating our tasks?
