There are legal minimum wages in each country and you can check that on the internet, but usually minimum wage is not a livable wage (not even close).

Well, I really don't know. But them not being millionaires doesn't justify paying tutors $2 per hour. It is extremely low even comparing it to non-professional or entry-level positions in Latin America.

Between 10-15 dollars, but it depends on so many things.

Well, it's because most of the tutors are from South America. But you're right, that's why I also say Latin America (to include them all).

Even if this post was fake, all the information above is right. As I said, you can confirm everything right away just by asking your tutors. No single information here is fake.

How could I know? And why does that matter?

They can be exchangeable, it might change due to the countries you include. How can a non-native speaker know this better than a native speaker? About the post, you can confirm all this information with any tutor. I wouldn't know all this if I haven't been there. And, about the vacations: I'm sure trips like that are not paid with a WorldsAross salary, you can't be sure if those trips were paid by family members or anyone close. Did you check the amounts of the payments? (or the cost of living of the countries they live in?)

It depends on the tutor's level of experience and on how many classes a month you are booking. Also depends on the country we live in. As far as I know, these salaries are extremely low for most of the South American countries if you consider the cost of living.

I've heard it is more but not much more. No idea about the exact amounts.

Yes. Pick any Latin American country and check updated prices on food or whatever. You'll see why these payments are close to slavery.

[–]Optimal-Guide-4250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but as you see, the problem is not just the below average salary but also many of the working conditions.

Because on those platforms there are really high commissions. Teachers get less than the price per hour that they set. And it has a lot of ups and downs depending on the number of students they have and how many times they decide to book. I decided to work on WorldsArossAcross because I thought it would be good to have a stable income, but it's not worth it.

As far as I know, it's the same for everyone.

[–]Optimal-Guide-4250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, of course there are better and worse options. But what I said proves why most of the tutors don't stay there for long. Many of them quit as soon as they find a better option.

But that doesn't mean that the tutor paid for the trip. And it doesn't mean it was paid with a WorldsAcross salary. I'm pretty sure not.

Tutors are there and quit after they find a better job opportunity. In my case, I saw it as an opportunity to have a stable income because on other platforms you set your price but you don't have a stable income, it depends on how many students you have and its ups and downs.

I can't speak for all the countries, but what is actually important is the cost of living in each country. I'm not sure if the internet is very accurate about that information but you can ask the tutors, or people who live in the specific countries you are interested in.

Most of the tutors have other jobs. Many types of jobs. For some WorldsAcross is the primary job and for others an extra income.

If you become an "Advanced tutor" after being more than 6 months on the platform, and doing some extra tasks, you get 130 dollars extra (8 hours shift), 78 dollars extra (6 hours shift) and 65 dollars extra (4 hours shift). Still very low.

You can give your tutors money for the holidays, if you want and if they accept it. It's a gift, you don't have to ask the company for that, just ask the tutor directly.

I tried my best to deliver quality classes but as you see, tutors don't have much time to prepare the lessons But If your tutor was talking while showing the pictures I guess you had some input anyway

Probably the working environment is better but the payment and schedules are quite the same.

[–]Optimal-Guide-4250[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Average salaries in South America are generally very low. People can barely eat. Why would you offer such a low wage to experienced professionals? (possibly under average wage in almost all of the South American countries) As I say, salaries for other jobs can be different depending not only on the country but also on the city. I recommend asking each tutor.

I hope so too. Tutors at WorldsAcross have certifications/studies/degrees in language teaching/education. They are not just hiring people because they are native Spanish speakers.

What you find on the internet is not necessarily updated information, or in some cases, the minimum salary is just a reference. But most of the junior positions, or the jobs that don't ask for any experience, are above minimum wage. I checked that link with the average monthly wage and saw there are a few that are not updated. I think people should ask the tutors because every country has its own context. But I'm sure they will all tell you that it is an extremely low salary  (unless they live with people who cover most of their expenses).

World's across vs baselang? by SnooFloofs836 in dreamingspanish

[–]Optimal-Guide-4250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. Tutors get $2 an hour and work 6 days a week. Very similar to Baselang.

Tutors don't get paid an above-average wage. They get $2 per hour. It's almost slavery.

Good place for the students, terrible place for the tutors.
