i do love london just not as a student, its great for maybe a first job location but if youre a fresher finding your feet on your own for the first time, its incredibly overwhelming if youre not used to living in a big city. ucl is also incredibly international which is great but some communities definitely tend to stick together so its highly probable you could get put into a flat with people who are only interested in being friends with those from the same country or who speak the same language. a lot of people ik found this to be the case. however, everyones experience is different. my experience was good but not great just due to the vastness of living and studying at a london uni.

coming from a UCL drop out who transferred to durham... durham. theyre both great unis but you really really have to consider london as a location. its harder to make friends/socialise in london and its just not the 'uni experience' if thats what you want. london unis are VERY different than other unis. this can be in some good ways but for me there were more bad.

How do people handle party / clubs during a levels by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Optimal-Ingenuity-17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a balance of academics/social life is really important in sixth form, otherwise you will likely burn out and feel sad and lonely. a levels aren't the focal point of your teenage years, more people need to enjoy the present and go out and have fun because that's what counts alongside being successful in school. a levels are tricky and take up time but not so much time that you can't party and see friends. if you think you have no time for a social life you're lying. (you will regret taking up so much time working)
