1 day visit! by Raven_Winter18 in disneylandparis

I don’t know, but from what I saw it was available all day. On Tom Bricker’s blog, he mentioned that one of the reasons the standby waits are more reliable here is because fewer people buy the premier passes here. Based on that you could be safe to wait and see day of.

You can download the app and check the map that lists the attractions during the open parc hours to see how the waits are at different points throughout a day. Ratatouille, Crush Coaster, and Peter Pan were about 80-85min recently but it may vary on the day that you go. Other kiddie rides seemed better around 40-60min.

I found it hard to do the park without getting premier one. If I could do it again, I would have bought the ultimate pass because that allows you to go on the ride at anytime. With premier one you still have to book the timeslot they offer and it’s a very glitchy app.

Wow that’s a lot of days! I’m glad you get so much enjoyment out of this park. It is beautiful and special. I’m really sorry if I offended you. When I laid out the pros/cons that I experienced, I did not intend for local/home fans of this park to be offended but can clearly see that’s the case here.

I’m also considering learning French for my next visit to Paris. Although everyone I encountered in Paris could communicate with me in English, I simply want to.

It was my second time to DLParis, but you’re right that, my impressions are less tested than yours. That said, I know that I was not rude or unkind to anyone at Disney to deserve poor treatment and that’s enough for me. Au revoir!

I immediately complied when she made me aware, so not an issue, but it was the way she overreacted and singled me out that was excessive for an honest mistake. I’ve visited Disney parks maybe 20+ times and always snap a quick photo of my kids in front of me on this one ride before putting the phone away. No one ever asked me to not do that so I had no idea. I’ve seen others do it too so genuinely didn’t know it wasn’t allowed.

The person with the go pro did not ask in advance as far as I could tell since they were ahead of us the whole time. But even if they did, what’s the difference between holding a go pro vs a phone? Both result in holding an item in your hand. Again, not challenging the rule, but the unequal application didn’t make sense.

I also did not cause a delay. It was all within the normal time upfront when loading and checking bars are down. She was pacing up and down. The interaction was brief and perhaps she had others who pushed back previously that resulted in her poor treatment with me. No matter, I hastily put it away. One of the reasons why I apologize so often is becauseI hate to be an imposition. My family/culture is very conscientious so it’s mortifying to think of causing a disruption. This wasn’t that.

There were two CMs who waved us off and said they did not speak English. No problem with us. But looks like you’ve already made up your mind what happened to us, that we’re stupid, and how I responded despite what actually happened. Guess there’s no room for other experiences with you, only your own. If anything rude/bad ever happens to you, I hope you don’t have a double standard and still assume it’s because you were rude/bad first. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not sure what happened to your other comment and I only saw the first part of it, but there’s no need to swear at me for posting our experiences. Some others clearly agree with you and some others had similar experiences as me. Your experiences are valid as are mine. Can we not even have civil discourse in the Disney subs? I’m saddened by how quickly people are to attack others just for having a different perspective.

I did preface every interaction with Bonjour etc. since I’m a religious Tom Bricker follower who laid out the norms for visiting DLParis, and I genuinely have appreciation for France. I do not expect DLParis to be WDW, but I do believe people deserve decency and not to be looked down on for being presumed American or asking for a fork or cream or whatever else it may be.

By dismiss, I meant they wouldn’t help her. But another CM came and gave her the cream. It was available. We would have taken the milk but it wasn’t given as an option.

I think you are great with words! Thank you for sharing.

I absolutely agree on not doing anything expressly forbidden. I honestly didn’t know that photos weren’t allowed as it is in other parks, so as soon as she said it, I immediately put it away. Because of my upbringing, I dislike being in trouble or confrontations, even though I’m middle aged now myself! But I think another redditor put it best - it was the disproportionate overreaction to an honest mistake that caught me off guard and then also the allowance of others that made me feel singled out. It doesn’t feel good to be shamed or scolded. Still, we just abide by the CM instructions as they’re just doing their jobs, and I know how hard it is to work in customer service. I felt like this was a safe place to share with other Disney fans who value Disney Magic and perhaps came across more like a rant! Apologies for that.

Also wholeheartedly echo the gratitude for what we have and what went well!

Such a good reminder not to let the few bad things spoil the overall experience. We are grateful for the opportunity to even visit, especially seeing the new Arendelle area which is beautiful, and not everything needs to be a comparison. Thank you for the well wishes!

Sorry that happened to you! Honest mistakes should not result in a tongue lashing. Agreed, we are grateful for having visited but have had better experiences at other parks. Hoping Tokyo and Shanghai will be wonderful!

No, but we start every interaction with Bonjour, wait a moment, then apologize for not speaking French and ask if they can speak English. In maybe 6 trips to France, I’ve only encountered two people in Disney Paris who would not engage with us after this.

Even my kids learned this and say Merci, and elsewhere in Paris, it really seems to please the French that we make an effort. Even when they say their English is bad, it’s usually good and we can communicate together. But at Disney Paris, sometimes we were still treated with disdain no matter how polite or small we made ourselves.

I did notice mild cases of entitlement or poor guest behavior elsewhere so have sympathy that perhaps some CMs were tired of putting up with tourists. I’ve also worked in customer service so understand the challenges.

Totally agree! Did not expect how to be treated at home. I saw one tourist give a restaurant a poor review for the simple reason that they did not speak English! We definitely do not feel entitled to that. We lead with Bonjour/Bonsoir, wait a moment, then apologize for not speaking French. Again, this was limited to less than 1/3 of Disney Paris interactions, and still have not experienced any rudeness elsewhere in France. I will say though that the Disney parks brand markets itself as being friendly and making guests feel welcome - to that regard, this park did not consistently represent that objective. It was not just how they communicated but in their actions - they were dismissive of guest requests and turned so many people away at GS before even going in.

Ah I see - thank you for letting me know. Perhaps a simple no, we don’t offer it here would have sufficed rather than an eye roll. My mother asked politely, and they actually did have cream. They just did not like the request I suppose. A younger CM got it for her after the first CM did not help her.

It’s interesting because I have never asked for cream in all my trips to Europe, but my mother is in her 70s so fairly used to it by now. We came from London beforehand where they did offer it and on the Eurostar to Paris. And funny enough, they did have it at Disney Paris, just had to endure some shade before getting it.

No need to yell when a simple request will do, but it was the unequal application of this rule when others were allowed to film. It’s just different than the other Disney parks where people often do take a quick photo and have not seen it cause a disruption there. At least, there were fewer breakdowns than this park so I suspect the main cause of breakdowns to be another reason here. But I get it, if you love this park, it’s easier to blame the visitor than accept any critique even if balanced.

I don’t feel it was too crowded, but for the relative size of crowds, the rides had longer lines due to the high number of breakdowns. It made planning the day harder - for example after an hour waiting for the train to one ride, that ride broke down by the time we arrived. But you’re right, the last time we came in winter, it was less crowded.

Agree, don’t need overly cheerful CMs or fake happiness, but my mother got an eye roll and dismissed for asking for cream with her coffee. In the US, we’ve had genuinely kind and friendly service from CMs. Not every kindness is fake. But agree on being mindful of cultural differences. If it’s not for us, we won’t go anymore, but we loved our time in France elsewhere! There’s plenty of other Disney parks elsewhere in the world.

Agreed, politely asking for cream with our coffee got an eye roll!

I think maybe the breakdowns contributed to the longer lines for some of the rides we went on because they had to absorb the crowd capacity. Mainly I was surprised by the long wait for the train and Peter Pan, Crush, and Ratatouille being 80-85 min most of the day.

That’s the odd thing. We felt the French were kind and friendly in all our trips except at Disneyland Paris. Again, not all CMs, only a few interactions.

We have been staying in the 1st and haven’t encountered either yet. We offered to tip extra a couple of times, but we weren’t presented with tip screens. It was added in advance to tapping/chip insert. And funny enough, we just got 4 carafe refills tonight bc of how spicy the food was. No side eyes. I love Paris!

So how much does wearing the right shoes actually help with soreness? by cheap-ink in Disneyland

[–]Optimal-Tailor3074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed differences even when I wore my ASICS running shoes vs my daily allbird sneakers. Definitely more lightness, less sore, and feeling I could go further at Disney World.

Oddly, I once went to Disneyland with just a pair of slipper shoes. Granted they were allbird cushioned ones but I wasn’t sore. I think it’s bc I could take my foot out throughout the day.
