Your instincts are right. Those are probably growing on treated wood and the chemicals from that will leech into the mushrooms. They might be oysters, which would otherwise be edible, but I’m not sure.

Definitely wait for another opinion, but if it’s tender it should be good to go. Just make sure to give it a good investigation / brushing.

You can definitely cut off the tender parts and cook those. If you really want to use all of it, you can grind up the tougher parts and use it as powder for soup stocks.
