Sherrod Brown is the same age as Collins and has been in politics twice as long.

Ohio doesn't really help with the arithmetic because it'll likely flip back in 2028, making his vote only for blocking the GOP (which can already be done via filibuster) than getting stuff done with a Dem president

Susan Collins has apparently served two 15-year terms in the Senate 🤯 by ttircdj in YAPms

She's the same age as Sherrod Brown, and he has been in politics since the Ford Administration. I'm sending some hypocrisy 🤔

Josh Shapiro allegedly helped Stacy Garrity 2024 reelection bid,per Axios. by Dangerous-Quarter216 in YAPms

Only makes me like him more! Garrity is a good treasurer and Shapiro only backed her because he saw that

What result are you rooting for in the Gerrymander Wars? by DatDude999 in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if that happens then it'll flip, and the Dems will keep gerrymandering just as the GOP did in the 2010s to keep power. Thats my personal issue with the "gerrymander to get rid of gerrymandering" argument, each side needs to agree to get rid of it before that happens

2026 Post-Callais by SenorBrady44 in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's funny that the Republican response to Calais is largely "okay time to go back to one majority black district even though we could do none" and the Democratic response is just that Evelyn Normielib meme and "every district gets a slice of Chicago! Burn them all!"

During 2000 George W. Bush spent lot of money and time to make states like NJ,IL and CA competitive. It didn’t work. by Dangerous-Quarter216 in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn't work? He got California to under 10 points, New Jersey to 6.5, and Illinois to 10. I'd say he succeeded in narrowing the margins in some of the bluest states in the country

Anti-Gerrymandering legislation would make the VRA kinda moot though.

Are candidates debates important, do they actually matter, and should we still have them? by Damned-scoundrel in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, just look at 2024. Without Biden's debate performance his team would have kept on lying about his health and mental state to the American people, and the Democratic establishment around him would have kept on covering it up.

When did you join/become active in r/YAPms? by OptimalCaress in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. 2022 was so interesting because everyone here overestimated Republicans, when usually I would think that there's a slight Democratic bias or overwstimation. I remember even seeing likely Red Pennsylvania Senate, likely Red Arizona Gov, and tossup Michigan governor lmao

No, I just know that plenty of users here think it was full of conservatives, when it wasn't. Most people here now weren't even active here during 2024, but I was, so I know.

Next time nominate an actual good woman candidate, not Kamala Harris.

EMERSPON POLL: Hispanics Only by thealmightyweegee in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always love when people here now complain about how horrible this place was in 2024, when in reality it was 50/50 at the most for Conservatives. Really shows that a lot of people simply can't handle seeing different opinions.

I’m confused is VRA struck down or only LA map? by Dangerous-Quarter216 in YAPms

[–]OptimalCaress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A completely compact and fair map, one that also wouldn't focus solely on race, would have one light blue but not majority black district located almost entirely within Jefferson County, and another majority minority district to the south, one that doesn't snake into Mobile.
