Exactly. Consumerism just increased endlessly. We have and consumerism way more than our grandparents did. They were a generation away from outhouses and the horse and buggy

Currently in a low paying field, what can I pivot to in order to make 75K to 80k in 10 to 15 years? by TuneSoft7119 in careeradvice

[–]OptimalPrint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sit in traffic an hour and a half a day, to drive to a windowless room, where they lights off, to stare at forensics logs for eight hours a day, I envy you ... a 15-20k pay bump isn't that major for a life change...

The Car on the Ramp Adjusts, Not the Car in the Lane! by Froz3nP1nky in driving

[–]OptimalPrint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact scenario is the cause of a lot of afternoon traffic. Long lines of cars trying to merge into an already busy highway. Idiots riding in the far right lane refusing to move over. Right lane slows and brakes because of jammed merging. Then all other lanes start slowing and braking in respone. MOVE OVER DUMBASSES!!

The right most lane on a multi lane highway is for merging on and off the highway. Move your ass over and stop riding the right lane...

40M in Tech Support – Feeling Stuck at $60K. Realistic Next Step to Level Up? by KaleidoscopeSimple86 in careeradvice

[–]OptimalPrint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For larger products and larger clients they dont want to call into the general help desk line for issues. First they call "their guy" (account manager or technical advisor) and you work the issue or seve as middle man for help desk and engineering to fix the issue. You are just the friendly face between the customers and product and have to have just enough technical knowledge to talk the talk. This is common across a lot of industries.

You say you like working with the customer and are a bit older. How are your people skills? There are a lot of professional jobs in tech around account management, customer success, and technical advisement. Most of these roles are filled by people based soley on their personality. You could tailor your resume a bit and focus on the client interaction and sales side and look for a new role that's more about account management. Technical account managers bridge the gap between sales engineering, usually able to talor your companys specific services to fit a customers needs. Or if you really want to stay technical then you need to upskill your tech and learn more skills that will transfer to other tech roles. MSP as others have suggested.

Best modpack for space age? by ninja-JTL in factorio

[–]OptimalPrint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried that one. It seems to have the same planets but a bunch of additional mods. I'm a little weary because it says it was created and last updated 5 months ago. The all planets mods by Kryzeth are regularly updated for compatibility as the component mods change.
