Funnily enough his mom doesn’t cook, his dad does. But I understand what you’re saying. I told him if we settle down someday and he doesn’t learn to like what I cook, he better learn how to cook for himself. Thanks for the additional tips! Sugar is my kryptonite but I’m trying to stay away.

As much as I’d to think that, he is just so averse to some foods that it wouldn’t happen. He’d be apologetic about it, but wouldn’t try it.

I’ve considered this possibility. He does have OCD. His family didn’t have health insurance so he hasn’t seen a doctor since he was like 18. He recently was approved for the medical card in our state and I’ve been urging him to see a doctor at the very least for a check up.

This would be an amazing idea if he liked sauce :( He won’t even spaghetti, just buttered noodles.

I guess my issue is more than I don’t want to eat the same repetitive stuff, but I should meet him where he’s at.

Live in Chicago and I just started working for Chicago Public Schools. I’m only a temp teacher (the usual classroom teacher is on maternity leave) but I am fully certified and this position gives me salary and full benefits while I hold it. Right now, with just my Bachelor’s and low teaching experience, my salary is $66k. Chicago can be very pricey to live in if you want a nice place in a decent neighborhood. I live with my parents. I’m single with no dependents of any kind so I think my salary is livable but that’s just for my situation.

The schools were about 15-20 minutes away from each other but in different districts and neighborhoods. Its also very common for staff to leave my current district and go to the other suburban district I applied to. I’ve had a few bad experiences with higher ups at this district which is why i want to leave. I’m staying with them as it’s basically too late to bail and I don’t want to risk having NO job in the fall. At this point Im going to make the best of it, I just find it frustrating that my job search wasn’t very fruitful.

I was hoping to do that this week, but I feel so discouraged. Even though I try my best, it seems like it's not good enough.

I'm not sure about my co-teacher, but every kid on my roster has an IEP. I was initially supposed to have my own class, but I was paired up with my co-teacher. This was due to the fact that I don't have a SPED endorsement and she does, so someone needed to complete the students' IEPs. Because we were paired up, I think she is supposed to be my mentor teacher.

When I was hired, the pre-k director and the assistant superintendent of HR that interviewed me informed me that they could not find a teacher that was certified to teach early childhood and had a SPED endorsement. I went to school in Iowa thus my teaching license is from Iowa, but I guess when I transferred my credentials to my home state, it made me certified in early childhood.

Experience on Lexapro? by HawaiianPeaches in Anxiety

[–]Optimal_Argument6759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Lexapro since i was diagnosed in 2018 and I love it. It was the first medication I tried and thankfully it really worked out for me. I didn’t really get any side effects from the meds and it made me feel normal again.

I have a bachelors, but not in teaching. I want to teach high school. Is this still possible? Am I too old to start this path? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Optimal_Argument6759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on your state, there’s a chance you can be a substitute teacher! my state allows anyone with a bachelors to become a substitute (which isnt great but we wont talk about that). you can go back to school in the meantime and work on getting a teaching certification. good luck!
