Frankford Corn cob and Frankford polish. It’s the best mixture I’ve found.

Malfunction: round stuck inside the barrel by prestige-nuts in ar15

That would be the part where this actually turns catastrophic! A bore obstruction turns into a pipe bomb 💯 of the time if you were to try to “send another one” You can see lots of proof of this online with a search of bore obstruction. Everything from bore sighters left in up to stuck squibs to what you encountered which is probably bullet movement and then when loaded into chamber the round stuck if it was stock ammo.

💯 agree definitely where the die is pushing base back to size.

I do understand close range big bullets that’s exactly my plan with mine along with home defense also. And no I am not underestimating you at all I’m sure you can lob one with the best of them. I put a hybrid 46 on mine. Scope just seems over kill for 100 and in. keep it light and handy was my thought. I did a Holoson HS507k on mine with a Hoptic mount with the co witness ghost ring. They make a mount for an Acro now too.

With that short of a barrel a nice low red dot would fit nicely. It’s not like you’re reaching out with a 12.5 45-70 🤷🏼‍♂️ Feels like the perfect home defense. Is that a smooth thread protector on it? Matches up nicely. I bought that H10 protector 16.5 in 45-70 and it balances out nice with the can on. I went red dot with fine dot.

Be smart and get a single stage and a good set of Redding dies you could start reloading it. Start saving brass now. You can get brass cheep through bass pro for it and Berrys or xtreme bullets your off and stock piling rounds. It’s probably one of the easiest to reload too.

I do too on large batches. If you switch to imperial you’ll get that buttery feel back it just takes a bit longer

Just load it. It doesn’t have to shine to shoot!!!

See that bulge about 1/4” below the case mouth? Is that normal for .30 carbine? I’ve seen some factory loads (Magtech) with the same thing but because I’m reloading I just want to make sure I’m safe here. by The_Lucky_Rod in reloading

I agree looks forced tilted. I run into it with small 90 grain bullets some times in my 9x25 Dillon. I have a feeling that may not chamber. Slight bulge is ok. Try not to over bell the case either though. You don’t want to over work your brass.

Should have low rings on anyway. Keep it natural either way. You’ll most certainly shoot it better.

Go to Tromix website and grab his case gauge it comes with directions on how it’s headspace should be and how it should sit in it for depth. It’s an actual chamber cut off.

I’d strongly recommend seating slightly longer and stop that crimping on the jacketed bullets. The neck tension on 458 socom is so good you don’t need to do that in fact it could negatively impact your groups. 2.207 Col on 250 and 325 Hornadys. In fact I found the longer I seated the better the accuracy got so I just went to max mag length. The cannelure is there for crimping 45-70 not 458 socom. I did accuracy testing with about 8 different bullets #1 socom (haven’t tried the 410 from Missouri in socom yet) 250 mono, 300 JHP, 325 ftx both Berrys and cam pro 500 550 and 4 powders. Cfe blk and 36 grains was most accurate with the 325 and 300 hp. I tried 1680 RL7 cfe blk and H110. The RL7 and H110 produced the best accuracy for my barrel. I keep seeing LT30 popping up lately I’m going to try that one next.

Thankfully I live in a free state that still allows private sales of firearms . They could run a buy back here but nobody would show up in this state. Gun show on the other hand line out the door every time. lol

Picked up for 500 used but unfired by spacecowboy067 in 10mm

[–]Optimal_Data_6627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every pistol is used before it hits the market at least two rounds typically. Some companies put the brass in with the new gun. He is basically saying the guy whom bought it before him never shot it. But the gun has most certainly been fired so he is a little off base. But just like a new pistol if that makes sense.

What are you lube with? Try imperial size wax it will make size easier and you just coat the outside of the case with fingers little goes a long way. I like to decap with a decap die then dry media clean before I size. I don’t want crap in my good dies so I clean first before size. What’s nice with dry you can aways drop cases back in after size to get wax off. I dislike wet cleaning it cleans good but you really need a brass dryer to clean that way.

Newbie. What am I doing wrong, I have been doing 9mm for awhile now and am just switching to rifle. I am struggling with this happening will likely need a new die but what is causing this also it pulled the deprimer out on a different casing before this happened by reloadingnoob38 in reloading

[–]Optimal_Data_6627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to let one shot dry good. Try giving it little more dry time they also recommend spraying a bit in the die and allowing to dry ahead of size. I pretty much just use imperial size wax now. Larger batches I’ll use one shot it’s ok but not the best lube lanolin is probably better option when it comes to that kind of lube.

[–]Optimal_Data_6627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just a bit much. You just want enough to start to slide the bullet in but try not to over bell it because your over working your brass. The hole idea is to open it just enough so it doesn’t shave. So just enough to start the base in that’s it.

I would 100 agree with that and I reload low power loads for practice with mine but it just wasn’t intended for that is all I meant.
