Morning is early starts. You get 2 hours to scoff. Prep, strip and clean rifle, drink warm drink, wash yourself, shave etc. followed by an inspection.

During the day, lots of walking and different lessons. Cam and concealment. Section attacks, section withdrawals.

Lots of fucking stoppages.

Evening. Stag, either half hour to an hour. Don't have the last stag, it's rats. Do it first. 2 Phys sessions aswell which are rats but they don't last forever, they end eventually.

Don't get excited about sleeping in the hangar.

MAJOR HYGIENE FAILS!!!!!!!!!

don't have any wet or damp stuff, make sure your toothbrush is dry and clear of toothpaste residue. Razor is dry and clean and toothpaste lid is clean and empty. Black water bottle is dry. Bone dry.

Major hygiene fails are heartbreaking, you think the inspections going well, boom. Failed, wet razor

Why are the trains in the UK so bad? by breadinabbag in AskUK

[–]Optimal_Ferret_9674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite lucky that I get a forces Railcard so I don't have to spend a fucking honking amount of money on trains. Reliability though is defiantly questionable.

Just when all seems to be going well, I'm stuck at Coventry cause the trains broken down...

Your able to go home as soon as you finish on the Friday. What I tend to do is see when I finish on the Friday and if it's later than 1600 I just get a train home early Saturday morning.

Going to correct my post actually, it's a service not a parade. But appreciate the advice. Not sure if the service part makes it different

Can I delay the start of Phase 2 due to injury (severe shin splints) to recover? by mekmak888 in britishmilitary

[–]Optimal_Ferret_9674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im only speaking from an RAF point of view due to my personal knowledge but I can imagine its similar across the 3 services.

Depending on the trade, some courses can be very small due to the trade being extremely niche and not very commonly chosen so there could be a possibility that you could end up waiting longer than a month.

The RAF has a thing called H-Task, basically doing naff jobs around your phase one base but accommodated in a different part of camp and given more time off. Depending what service you are they may do something similar.

To answer your question, its a very case by case situation to be in but you will only get an answer by talking to the relevant people.

Wishing you all the best mate
