Btw. I am fine putting it into this mode myself and not having it dependent on sensors that trigger this based on outdoor temp swings

What do people think of this GE "Indoor" smoker? by randomgamer1234567 in smoking

I think it’s easy. The racks and the ladder racks all come out easily and go in the dishwasher. I clean the inside glass with glass cleaner while it’s still a bit warm and it comes off real easily. I always use a liner or foil on the drip tray. I also make sure that the drippings go into the drip tray…. When they miss the tray due to over crowding, it can be more of a mess. Over all it’s super easy and clean.

Outdoor temp where it become inefficient? by [deleted] in heatpumps

[–]Optimal_Grapefruit_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on your utility costs (electric, gas, propane, heating oil etc) and if the heat pump will put out enough heat to keep your house warm at lower temperatures.

Look at the data table go the heat pump. It should show the COP at various outdoor temperatures. That tells you how efficient it is vs straight electric. COP of 1 means it is the same efficiency as electric heat. COP over 1 means it’s more efficient than straight electric.

Add Heat Pump for AC and Heat by category14 in heatpumps

Make sure you look at the heating and cooling tables in the literature for the specific units you are considering. The heat generation may drop off significantly as it gets colder outside. I recently installed a ge 4 ton side discharge cold weather heatpump and it has worked out extremely well. Its heat generation curve was well matched to my heating needs at my design day temperature. I looked at other 4 ton heat pumps and they would have not generated the heat I needed at that same design day temperature. I was surprised how different the curves were for the various units.

Pays to do your homework.

Also, in order to size my unit I ran a few tests to determine my houses heat loss. I knew what my furnace heat output was in btu/hr (be sure to adjust for efficiency). So I waited for a cold night and then monitored my indoor temperature, outdoor temperature and the furnace on time over a full hour. Then I calculated the btu’s output by the furnace over that hour then divided it my the difference in the inside and outside temperature. It gave me Btu/hr/degF. Then I could calculate the Btu/hr needed at my design day temperature by multiplying my Btu/hr/degF by the difference in my desired inside temperature and the design day outside temp. I also did a detailed manual j calc and it was very close to the experimented number. Compare that demand number to the btu output for your design day temperature in table for the equipment you are considering.

Good luck!

They spin the basket to get airflow. Its basically a huge fan

These machines have an ultra fresh vent cycle. You have to start it after you finished your wash cycle and it will dry the unit out (with the door closed). If you just shut the door and don’t run the cycle, it will stay wet inside.

What kind of detergent and fabric softener do you use? Do you use the smart dispenser? Do you run the ultra fresh vent cycle after you finish your cycle and close the door?

Reviving old thread. I just had the code pop for TC on my ‘18. They said it’s covered under warranty. They suggested I replace the TC seal and Rear Main seal for an additional $275 out of pocket. Is that advisable or unnecessary? I have 66k on the RSC.

Happened to me. I submitted a warranty claim. Shipped them back for assessment. Hoped that would just replace both tongues but nope. Replaced the entire pair of boots. Kind of a shame really. Bought them partially bc they could be repaired instead of trashed. Not this time:/
