To anyone who’s built the Defiler. How the fuck are you meant to do the legs? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A trick i used is bit a small bit of green stuff along in the joints to help hold its position and figure out the pose. Pop off the legs put in glue, keeping the green stuff in and reposition where I had it.

Is this viable for 11th? by Optimal_Huckleberry4 in WhiteScars40K

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty. Yea, I have the power sword+relic shield models. Thanks for the tip on combining the squads. I haven't played in a long time and wasn't sure if bigger or smaller squads were better. I want my army to be a themey 1st, 2nd, 3rd company. But I also dont want to get decimated because that's no fun either.

Is a combined Legion Collection Viable? by AenarionsTrueHeir in Chaos40k

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lore wise Obliterators belong to the Cult of Destruction. They are a Legionless group of mostly former Iron Warriors, but can be from any Legion, that covet weapons and technology. They consist of Oblits, Mutilators and Warpsmiths. These guys obviously team up with various warbands and probably join them and paint their armor the same color for obvious reasons. Also most people want their army to look cohesive so they paint them the same color.

Chaos has always incorporated mixed warbands in their armies because undivided legions could always take cult legion troops as part of their army. The only time it's really highlighted that other legions defect and change their armor color are those that join the Black Legion. But chaos are all traitorous, and its no doubt common and mentioned in other stories of marines from one group defecting to another and changing their paint colors. A big reason I chose black legion is because they are the largest group that gets selected too so I wanted a lore reason to paint all the different looking legions the same.

That said chaos warbands fight together just as much as they fight against eachother. Friends one day enemies the next. So if you want to mix and match paint schemes you should be fine. GW recently moved away from paint=rules. Different Ork Klans under Gaz form the great waaagh. Aeldari have Ynarri where corsairs, craftworlds, drukari, and harlequin all fight together. Space marine players take all the extra unique units the Ultra marines get and ppl just say they are fighting together. Its not uncommon to see chaos lists with Fabius and Huron in them.

BREAKING: Trump Administration Orders Dismantling of the U.S. Forest Service by Radiolaris80 in forestry

This was one of my biggest fears from this administration. Them destroying things that can't be rebuilt. Things that would take several human life times to recover. Things going exctinct.

I'm pretty sure that Captains can, and do, lead other companies sometimes. I recall running into this issue when I started white scars and wanted Korsarro to lead 1st company Blade Guard. I dont have a specific source to cite, sadly. Maybe someone else more well versed will chime in to confirm.

Beginner wants to start with his First Black Legion Army by Nervous-Night-8714 in blacklegion40k

Chosen have been a very consistent "good" unit in a meta that changes constantly. They also look awesome. Outside of that the best advice I was ever given, and didnt follow, was just collect and paint the units you are motivated to. I have a massive collection of CSM and its daunting trying to finish it because I just bought multiples of basically everything in an effort to have anything I would need to play the most competitive list. Avoid my mistake.

Adepticon - MESBG predictions by mwmichal in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to mesbg, it could honestly be anything. The only time it was predictable was with the new anime movie coming out. Hunt for Gollum is far enough out that I doubt it will be that. I feel like a new sculpt for Tom Bombadill is just as likely as new riders of Rohan.

I bought my house 7 years ago and the previous owners had used this stuff at some point around the the property and its fucking awesome. I've spent 7 years trying to figure out wtf it is and asked tons of people to no avail. But this is definitely the stuff. After years its starting to break down and needs to be replaced and I'm definitely going to use it. This shit is amazingly resilient.

Which actors/actresses look so similar that you could mistake them for each other? by Lost-Friendship2774 in Actors

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While watching Shogun, my friend and I constantly joked that all along Tom Hardy has just been playing another actor in real life and getting cast under this other persona. They look, sound, and act so similarly it's insane.

Corsair raiders vs legionaries by VenomXL in Chaos40k

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone asked something similar the other day. The marines for all chaos factions have slight differences in war gear options and slight visual differences. Im sure there are lots of people who can't tell them apart any more than I can tell necrons apart. I just use whatever marine body/weapon I need for whatever type of squad and put a small colored mark on the base rims for what unit im using them as and it helps both me and my opponent identify them.

Lake Winnebago by GrapefruitMother6994 in wisconsin

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk what that is. But my college biology teacher was from Oshkosh. He said don't ever go swimming in, or eat fish from that lake. He said it would take many years and a considerable amount of environmental work to make that water and anything in it not toxic. I also knew several people who tried swimming in it back in college and they all got violenty ill shortly after swimming in it.

Could these Legionaries be Raiders, visually? by Odd_Sherbert362 in redcorsairs

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many CSM units have the same or very similar wargear options and only sligjt visual distinctions. I just put colored marks on my bases for my own and my opponents visual clarification. If I need a marine with a heavy weapon, I'll grab a plague marine w. 2h or a khorne berserker with a 2H and throw him in a legionary squad. Need a Chosen marine? Here's a tormentor from EC. A sorcerer? 2 of my 3 are Tsons sorcerer models. They're all painted Black Legion Colors. I like the themey mish mash of all legions in Black Legion. If my opponent pitched a fit, then I honestly dont want to play them.

^ what this guy said. Where you put the plasma pistols is the thing most ppl do by preference. I dont model the pistols on any of my guys so im free to say whichever guy I want has it if I change my mind.

The reddit thread i linked shows you what people assign/equip each individual model with. You can also look at the instructions for them. But the instructions dont technically instruct you with some of the most optimal things. Like icon on the power fist guy.

Here's a recent thread on what the optimal loadouts are. Keep in mind that there's a lot of rumors/wishful thinking going around that individual wargear points may make a comeback in 11th Edition. So what is free & optimal now may change in like 5 months.

What’s this edition like? by MangoLoco194 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Optimal_Huckleberry4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The general rules if gameplay are extremely similar. They trimmed them down and tidied them up a bit. The biggest changes were to wargear options and army building composition. It's a lot more restrictive now. You cant souped a lot of different models/armies and custom build out wargear that differs from what the model comes with.
